Dearest Tiwari Family: We are deeply saddened to learn of the profound loss, of your beloved father.
Your parents and myself go back a very long way. Sister Jaio and I grew up in the village of Canal #1 Polder, in Guyana.
My dear Brother Ram was an amazing individual and a true gentleman. Rampersaud has been a treasured person, in my life. We chatted often via telephone. I will certainly miss our catch up conversations and all the reminiscing we did over the years.
During this very difficult time, please know that I hold you ALL closely in my thoughts and prayers. May you have peace in your spirit and pride in your heart, knowing your parents created a tremendous legacy for your family to carry on. Always remember, your beloved Mother and Father live on, within you. May you be blessed with their strength and be comforted by GOD's grace as you walk through this journey, together.
On behalf of myself and my entire family, we send our deepest sympathy.
Sincere regrets to have missed this farewell service as we only recently became aware of the news. Take good care.
With heartfelt condolences,
Karl Sharma

I wish to extend sympathy to the children, siblings and other family members of Rampersaud on behalf of my twin brother, Malcolm, and myself and our respective families.
As boys in the village of Buxton, we grew up and later travelled on the train to Georgetown to high school. Opportunity for friendship developed throughout our lives and when, like Rampersaud, I migrated after retirement.
He always exhibited a strong attachment to Buxton/Friendship, showing keen interest, and contributing to efforts aimed at its development. When he addressed me as "Country Man", at first I thought that this was his way of getting around the problem of differentiating between Malcolm and myself, but I soon came to appreciate that this was how he reinforced his perception of the kind of bond which existed between persons who belonged to the same community.
I will surely miss him, if at no other time, certainly when I have difficulty trying to recall some villager's family history
or 'false name' (alias)---his was 'Butters'--or a local or national political anecdote.
His family should assuage their grief by taking joy in the help and assistance which he rendered during his many years of exemplary public service, and in his private life.
May He Rest In Peace!

Condolences to the family of Mr. Rampersaud Tiwari. He was an inspiration to many and was always eager to discuss and share his knowledge with me on Buxton / Friendship history including Indian culture along with information about my family. His loss would be felt by many. On many occasions he would call, if he did not hear from me for some time. On behalf of my family, the Levi's from Buxton, The Buxton / Friendship Museum & Archives and Cimbux Inc., we join the family in acknowledging his transition.

My connections with my dear friend Rampersaud Tiwari began when both of our names appeared on the 1946 list of those who had passed their British Cambridge exams at Wray High School (“Lambert, Saul, Tiwari, Williams”). Ram was a precociously brilliant 14-year-old student, and I was about three years his senior, but we found ourselves on the same train from the East Coast to Georgetown in the wee hours of each morning, armed with our school lunches. Ram was a serious and hardworking student and a competitive cricketer who bowled a destructive off-break for our Wray High School team.
Time and distance separated us for many years, as Ram went off to Canada and I to England for further education and training, but we reconnected even more strongly after we had both returned to the former colony following Guyana’s independence and where we continued to interact while raising our families and pursuing our careers. Among Ram’s internationally recognized achievements was his massive knowledge and many conference papers on the indentured peoples of Guyana, a passionate “hobby” that continued to be cited by scholars, including one in my own home, Dr. Candice Goucher.
In recent decades, we stayed connected despite the distance between our North American homes. Across 4,000 miles and three time zones, Ram remained my veritable encyclopedia for post-colonial Guyana, its government, history, and policies. Our telephone and Zoom conversations were often spent reminiscing about those early days. Although I can still hear that school train’s whistle from our teenage years, the seat I managed to save for him will now remain empty.
To Rampersaud’s children, siblings, and other family members, I (and Candice and family) extend our deepest condolences.

Mr. Rampersaud Tiwari is an elder cousin of my father and growing up in Guyana I can remember his frequent visits to our home in industry.
He enjoys engaging in conversation about the history of Guyana and it's politics. He would tell us stories about his direct engagement with Guyana's Politicians during his time in Government and how he analyzed their visions.
I would remember him as the encyclopedia of Guyana and a man that served his Country in trying times and see all Guyanese as "One people One Nation one Destiny".
Our Condolences to the Tiwari Family.
Jai Shri Radha.

All warmest condolence to the family and friends of Mr. Rampersaud Tiwari. I came to know Mr. Tiwari through being involved in the Guyanese Canadian community. He was always keen to talk about Guyana and its happenings, our Indian ancestral hertiage, and writings by authors. He enjoyed talking about going 'back home' to Buxton, enjoying spending time there. I am thankful for the time and knowledge he shared with me. He was a supporter of our writng group and to me personally. I will miss our chats.
All prayers to his family at this time of mourning.

The Executive and members of the Committee To Assist Buxton/Friendship (COTAB) are saddened to learn of the passing of Bro Rampersaud Tiwari.
Bro Tiwari represents a rare breed that is a reminder of the cohesiveness that existed in Buxton and other parts of Guyana before the racial upheavals. There was never any doubt that he was proud of his Buxton roots and of his support for all things Buxton. He extended that same attitude and generosity to COTAB.
He was a well-rounded and highly-valued servant of Guyana and displayed tremendous willingness to share his institutional knowledge with younger generations.
Our condolences are for his immediate family and his siblings. We urge them to cherish the times they had with him and the knowledge and love he imparted.
Victor R. Moses
Secretary, COTAB

Rampersaud Tiwari will be truly missed. He is an outstanding example of principle, quiet commitment and courtesy. I thank him for being so generous with his time and wisdom, for patiently fielding questions from the students I sent his way, for sharing his knowledge so generously when asked, for introducing us to his sister Reenie in Guyana, for participating in, sharing the stage with and introducing elder Eusi Kwayana at the University of Toronto some years ago, for his work in the Canada-Guyana Forum with Sister Hazel Campayne, and for so much more. A true child of India, Guyana, Non Pariel, Buxton - all at once and all at the same time. Thank you for all of the lessons you have left for us to follow.
With so much respect, and gratitude to your family for sharing you with us.

Ti was indeed a gentleman and scholar; he was a friend and mentor. I will certainly miss his philosophical thoughts and legal advice as a colleague working with him in the Guyana Public Service. I express my sympathy to his loving family in this time of their grief.
