Obituary of Mr. Gary Lee
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Austin Lee on the morning of September 18th 2022 at the age of 87. He passed peacefully with his daughters by his side.
Gary was predeceased by his loving wife Norma and leaves behind his cherished children Carol (Jerry), Tracy (Scott) and grandsons Benjamin and Jack.
He was the son of the late Victorine Henrietta and Stanley Egbert Lee and is survived by his siblings Berwick (Merle) and Rollo (Shirley). He was predeceased by siblings Neville (Val), Bill (Stella, Shirley), and Mignon (William). He was part of a large family and will be missed by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Gary excelled in all types of sports. Growing up in Guyana, he played field hockey, cricket, tennis, basketball, soccer and badminton. He represented Guyana at field hockey and went on to coach the Guyana national team after retiring from competition. He spent a lot of time at Cosmos Sports Club where he also played billiards, dominoes, cards and mah jong and was able to cultivate close extended family relationships and make many lifelong friends.
Gary immigrated to Toronto with his family in the late 70s where he became an avid golfer. His love of sport, especially golf and hockey, will go on as it now extends to both his children and grandchildren.
