Obituary of Mrs. Helen Bartlett
Do not go gentle into that good night, rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Helen Joy Bartlett (nee Russell) passed away on September 11, 2022 in her 99th year. Born July 2, 1924 in Toronto, Helen excelled scholastically, often declaring that she was the only family member to “skip a grade”. She was intelligent and disciplined; graduating from the top level of Royal Conservatory in piano. In 1948, she married William (Bill) Wilton and shared more than 60 years together before his death (2012). They were devoted to each other and made a strong team raising 4 children: Bill (Linda) James (Cecilia), David, and Judy (Doug). She was actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives: Chris, Kathy, James, Satnam, Eden, Kelly, Russell, William and great-grandchild Oliver.
After working for the Toronto Catholic School Board as an office assistant for many years, Helen retired to travel, visiting many cities in the US and Europe. Winter and fall were her favourite seasons- skiing, skating and long walks were her passion. Helen will always be remembered for her sense of fun, willingness to try something new, strong morals, and love for her family.
She had a special relationship with her neighbours who, along with a compassionate team of caregivers, allowed her to stay in her home. Many heartfelt thanks to these people, most notably Jack, John, Danielle, Binnie and Kristen.
Visitation at Ogden Funeral Homes, 4164 Sheppard Ave. East, Scarborough Friday September 30 from 3-5. A private service to follow.
