Mrs. Eugenia Isola Soso

Obituary of Mrs. Eugenia Isola Soso

Please share a memory of Mrs. Eugenia Isola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eugenia Isola Soso (nee Morgan) was born March 2nd, 1935, to Rosanna and Christopher Morgan of Biabou, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She was part of a large family of eight children, seven girls and one boy. Eugenia studied dressmaking in Trinidad before eventually immigrating to Canada in the 1950s.

After settling in Montreal, she became a Registered Practical Nurse and the proud mother of two girls, Roseanne Soso Henlon and Suzanne Nurse.  Eugenia and her daughters moved to Toronto in the 1980s where she watched her daughters grow and flourish.  One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a grandmother extraordinaire to Abishai and Karis Nurse.

Eugenia had a big heart; she was always eager to lend a helping hand and give an encouraging word. She loved plumbing the depths of God’s word and calling upon His name for strength and guidance.  She possessed great instincts, had an electric smile, laughed loud and a lot. She loved to read and was a life-long learner.

While she only had two natural children, she was known as Mom or Momma Soso to her children’s friends – never Mrs. Soso because for her that was too formal.  She was an amazing cook who insisted on feeding you if you were at her home, whether you were hungry or not.  She was also keenly interested in politics.  It would not be unusual for her to strike up a conversation with a local politician to make sure they knew that SHE knew what they were doing.

Eugenia is survived by her daughters, Roseanne Soso Henlon and Suzanne Nurse, her grandchildren Abishai and Karis Nurse, sisters Vernice, Rhona, Elsa, Agatha, and Elizabeth, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She joins her beloved parents Rosanna and Christopher, as well as sister Doreen and brother Samuel in eternity with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
