Obituary of Margaret Louise McColl

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

(January 26, 1928 – August 26, 2022)
Margaret passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26. She was predeceased by her two older siblings, Ruth Astley (Frank) and Lorne McColl (Winifred), and her cousin and dear friend Arleen Benn. Her parents were Malcolm Roy McColl and Jessie (Scott) McColl of Kingston, Ontario.
Arleen was like a big sister to Margaret. They were both teachers. Together they bought a cottage on Paudash Lake near Bancroft and enjoyed many summers there. Margaret spent many years of healthy and happy retirement in her condominium at Bamburgh Place. Margaret loved to travel with friends and she loved to play bridge.
Margaret made a special contribution by teaching at Canadian Armed Forces bases in Europe during the mid-1950’s. Her long career also included teaching primary grades in Kingston, Deep River, Timmins, Sarnia and 25 years in Scarborough.
Margaret will be missed by her many close friends. She was a caring aunt to David (Sue), John (Barb), Ann (Greg) and Ruth (late Rocky). She was a great-aunt to Katie, Kevin, Meaghan, Stephanie, Colin, Stuart, Derek, Colleen, Marissa, and Emily. And great-great-aunt to young William. Margaret was also a special aunt to Elizabeth Miranda and David Waugh.
Margaret much appreciated the loving assistance provided by Sue and Dave, Katie and Kevin, and the faithful correspondence with “Ruthie.” The family wishes to thank the staff at Chartwell Grenadier and Bridgepoint Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
Margaret will be interred in the family plot in Kingston. At her request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
Class is dismissed.
