Oksana passed away peacefully on August 19, 2022 after a long illness. She was predeceased by her loving husband Michael of 50 years. Oksana will be dearly missed by her children, Zenon (Anne), Lydia (Gary), her grandchildren Cristina, Jennifer (Mark), Joshua (Kathleen) and Daniel, and her great-grandchildren Reed, Makena, Ellie and Nathan. She will also be missed by her surviving brother Danny (Luba), sister Luba (Dave), and many nieces and nephews.

 

Oksana was born in Lysetz, Ukraine in 1928 and had to leave Ukraine with her family when WWII broke out. They travelled through Hungary and Austria and ended up in a displaced persons camp in Germany. There, she met her future husband Michael and got married. Together, they immigrated to Canada after spending five years in England. They first lived in Montreal and then settled in Toronto. Oksana worked at many jobs before finding employment with CIBC. She spent 27 years as a Document Processor until retirement in 1990.

 

Oksana was a kind, generous, and creative person. She had interests in baking, cooking, gardening, arts & crafts, embroidery, crocheting, and poetry. Oksana was an active and longtime member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Women’s League.
