Uncle John was my godfather and a soft spoken man. It was really nice to meet him again and introduce him to my family on his last trip to Nairobi. May Almighty God grant him eternal rest.
Our deepest sympathies to Aunty Euphemia and Dominic and the entire Castanha family.

I remember the conversations we would have on the phone. He would be speaking to dad, and he would pass the phone to me to say hello.
We spoke sharing our love for travel and visiting different countries. I remember vividly when he visited Leicester in the late 90s. He would join in with the kids and play the computer game duck hunt on the Nintendo. Uncle John would imitate Robocop/Clint Eastwood. His favourite move was his back facing the tv screen and a quick 180-degree spin and shoot with the Zapper Laser gun, to our amazement he would always hit the target.
Uncle John, you will be dearly missed.

John,, brother, brother-in-law and Uncle. We will miss you. I will hold the happy memories and cherish what we shared together, all the holidays we shared together in Canada, Goa and Leicester, so close to my heart.
We used to talk so often on the phone. My last call was on July 22, 2022. May your soul rest in peace with the Lord! You will always be in my thoughts and prayers brother John!

Uncle truly a shock to us you must have really suffered but you suffer no more uncle Sir Joao Castanha. You had such a good personality and such awesome humor always jolly we were so glad to meet you uncle. Now you are with His Almighty Father, saints and Angels. To Aunty Darling Euphenmia not forgetting Dearest Dominic he will always be by your side s and he will be your Guardian Angel. Uncle John was not only my uncle but my godfather. I was lucky to go to lunch with him a few days before he went into the hospital and to be by his bedside when he passed. I love you and will miss you uncle John!
