Obituary of Mr. Franco Cesta
Surrounded by his family, Franco Michele Cesta passed away on Tuesday July 5th, 2022 peacefully in his home.
Franco was born in the small village of Collelongo, in the valleys of the mountains in Abruzzo, Italy on June 3rd, 1937. He immigrated to Canada in 1957. He has now joined his siblings, Isolina, Giuseppina (Tulio), Fortunato (Carolina), Lucia (Armando), and Nazzareno (Anna).
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years Maria, and his children Angelo (Ruth), Severina, and Anthony (Mary). He was the proud Grandfather of Matthew, Julia, Jonah, Jarrod, Emily, Olivia and Alyssa. He was a beloved Zio to many others.
A special thank you to those who cared for Franco; Dr Kalra who was his primary doctor for many years, and continued to oversee his palliative care; Dr Barsky for his care and management of Franco’s mental health and wellbeing; and to all the homecare staff and services that made it possible to honour his wishes to be at home.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, or Scarborough Health Network’s Mental Health Program would be appreciated.
