Benigno Velasco Tamondong, age 68, passed away peacefully on Friday July  1, 2022,  at Scarborough General Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He was born on February 13, 1954 in Dagupan City, Philippines to Ramon Siapno Tamondong and Generosa Velasco Tamondong.

He met his loving wife Shirley Susan Tamondong while working at Vulcan Mining Industrial inc. Benigno and Shirley married on  June 5, 1983 in the Philippines. Since then, they have been happily married for 39 years. Together, they had two children; Shimer Tamondong and Shyrene Day Tamondong Libunao. Benigno was a caring father who was able to successfully raise his two children to graduate and finish school. During his free time, he taught his children how to drive, resulting in their success to receive their driver’s licence and be great drivers.

He has lived in many places, from Dagupan City, Philippines to Caloocan City, Philippines where he worked as a warehouse supervisor at Vulcan Mining Industrial Inc, and then as a forklift driver. Lastly, he resided in Toronto Ontario, Canada where he worked as a YMCA cleaning attendant, and most recently as a valet at Minto. Throughout his time living in these cities and working these jobs, he had touched and blessed the lives of many people, and created long lasting friendships. Benigno showed great interest in Sabong, airplanes, and cars. He also enjoyed a good game of basketball and bowling, especially if it was a game with family and friends.

He had four grandchildren; Scarlett Jewel Tamondong, Elizabeth Pearl Tamondong, Skye Jayren Libunao and River Shaeye Libunao. He had a close relationship with his grandchildren and ensured that there was always time for them to bond. His presence in family and friends gatherings always brought great laughter and joy. He will be missed by his family, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Benigno was and always will be known for being admirable, having a generous and kind heart, a contagious laugh, and a bright smile. May he rest in God’s peace and glory.
