Mr. John Borisko

Obituary of Mr. John Borisko

Please share a memory of Mr. John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On June 29, 2022, we lost a father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Sadly the Maple Leafs lost their #1 fan.  He apologized that he couldn't hold his breath any longer.

Born in Hubbard, Saskatchewan, December 18, 1927 to a family of four brothers and four sisters.  John proudly served with the Patricia Pats Light Infantry during WW2.  He is survived by his older brother Nick and also by his sons Steven (Julie), Stuart (Diane) and Iain (Robin).  John was a proud Poppy to Meghan, Adam (Kristen), Samantha (Mark), Eric (Sydney), Blake and a great-grandfather "Poppy2" to Magnus, Caleb and Gunnar. John is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Isla, his parents John and Katie and siblings Walter, Anne, Kathy, Nellie, Irene and Donald.  He will be missed by all his nieces, nephews and close friends.

Dad was an owner of Borisko Brothers Moving and Storage along with his brothers Walter and Nick.  He had a deep passion for sports, and played hockey until he was 86 years old.  Along with his best friend Ron Troup, they would spend their week nights at hockey rinks scouting young players, some destined for the NHL. Dad was a fun loving man who truly loved life and the people in it.  He enjoyed a twirl around the dance floor with his wife Isla.  John had a good long life and it was finally time for him to join his wife and family in heaven.

The family would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses, PSW's and Therapists on 5 North of Shepherd Lodge for all their committed care over the past year.  They made Dad's life more comfortable.  There will be a visitation at 10 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. and a reception afterwards on Friday July 15, 2022, at the Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Avenue East, Agincourt M1S 1T3.  In lieu of flowers, the family request you donate to a charity of your choice.
