Obituary of Mrs. Marguerita Argyros

In Loving Memory of Marguerita Argyros 

May 23, 1947 – June 27, 2022

Marguerita “Rita” Argyros passed away peacefully on June 27, 2022, at the age of 75, after battling complications of pneumonia. She reunites with her parents, Antonis and Evangelia Fitrou.

Rita was the beloved wife to Demosthenes “Demos"; mom to Lia (George Mougtoussidis) and Jasmine; sister to Maria, Paraskevas and Fotini.

Born in Santorini and raised in Athens, Greece, Rita fell in love and married Demos. Leaving behind their loving family and friends in Greece, she embarked the unknown, full of adventures, when the newlyweds migrated to Canada in 1965, settling in Toronto and later in Scarborough.

Rita had a passion for learning, taking one too many photographs, and spending time in her garden. As a young wife and working mother, Rita kept the home energized with music; Elvis, Nana Mouskouri, and Barbra Streisand were some of her favourites on the record player. All throughout her nearly 57 years of marriage, it gave Rita great joy to cook and bake delicious traditional Greek cuisine for her family. Demos was the love of her life, who cherished and cared for her, especially throughout the development of her challenging health conditions. 

Marguerita (mom) will continue to live in our hearts and forever be missed.
