As we grieve the passing of Uncle Benito, we remember with fondness his kindness to his fellow human beings and the warmth and love he showered on his family and friends. Uncle Benito never failed to respond to anyone in need with a spontaneous act of service. He was a loving and gracious husband to Aunty Annette and a loving and caring dad to Gavin and Diane and a much loved grandfather to his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by all of us.
May his soul rest in peace and rise in glory on the day of our Lord.
Alan, Averil, Janine and Jonathan

My sincere condolences to the De Silva family on the loss of your beloved husband, father and grand-father. Benito's love of his family and friends will always be treasured by all those who knew him. I was blessed to get to know him over the years and I always enjoyed my visits with him. He shared many wonderful stories from his life and his spirituality was an inspiration. You could count on him to be there for anyone who was in need. He set a wonderful example of how to live out our Christian calling in this life. May he rest in peace, safe in God's care.

Words cannot describe how amazing of a human being my grandfather was. I will forever appreciate everything he always did for me and how he helped me grow into the person I am today. Pa was always there to assist us anytime of the day and night - he would drop anything to lend a helping hand. I will forever remember the days when I was young and my grandparents would be over for an extended visit. Pa would always bring me my favourite drink, warmed chocolate milk to begin my day. It was the highlight of my mornings. He would even make me smile on other occasions when he secretly slipped me money to put into my piggy bank. I am also very grateful for all the memories he would constantly capture for us with his camera. All our milestones will forever be treasured, as we go through the volumes of albums that have been created because of his thoughtfulness. Pa was a trooper too. He fought through some of the hardest battles with his health and I am so thankful we had the time we did with him. He most importantly showed me love and passion for family and guided me down the path that I am headed on today.
Pa, you will always be with me in my heart, and you will never be forgotten.

Where do I begin. From the minute I was born up until Pa’s last breath he cared immensely for me. Being the oldest in his family as well, he always taught me how to be a leader. From unfailing support and advice to spending time with me, taking me on day trips, lunch runs to my favourite places and always being available for me, he truly was the pinnacle of what the world’s best grandfather was. Being the oldest grandchild as well, meant that I was the first to reach all the major milestones throughout school, for this generation. Pa always pushed me to do my best and to study. Even up to his final phone call with me recently, he said, “make sure you study” and I reassured him I would. Even though he sadly won’t be in the crowd during my university graduation next June 2023, I know he will be walking the stage alongside me, knowing that I succeeded in finishing my degree. I will miss you very much, Pa.

Pa, as we lovingly referred to him, truly was a spiritual person and the best grandfather. It always felt like he was my guardian angel, and I could always count on him to be looking out for me. Every day he took time to call me when I got home from school, wanting to make sure I arrived home safely and find out about my day. I will miss his calls, but I know he’s watching over me from heaven. Something I’ll never forget was his beautiful whistling and singing around the house and the wonderful life stories he shared. There was always a lesson to be learned
and I will always treasure them in my heart. Pa was the most generous person I have ever known, he always put others’ needs before his own. I hope to follow in his footsteps and make a difference in this world, as he did.
Thank you Pa for all you’ve done, until we meet again, I will forever and always keep you in my heart.

I will always remember Benito as a good, kind, gentle and loving man. I will miss his jokes, many stories and his sense of humour. I will miss him sitting around the table making us all laugh while enjoying a generous helping of food. He deeply cared for his family and was always there when they needed him. He was very generous and sponsored many charitable organizations. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Farewell. Rest in peace. May God comfort you!

Uncle Benito will be affectionately remembered by us as a great role model of a true gentleman, a humble, generous and caring man.
He had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humour and understood human nature with its frailties very well. Nedra will always cherish the memories of the weekends of the year 1987-88 spent with Uncle Benito, Aunty Annette, Gavin and Diane, who are such a warm and loving family. Rodney always remembers with gratitude Uncle Benito's immediate support in helping to retrieve our lost luggage at midnight from a heavily-guarded Bandaranaike International Airport prior to our impending wedding. We also value the comprehensive set of photographs he took and presented to us of our wedding day.
Our heartfelt condolences and love to Aunty Annette, Gavin, Diane and families.
Uncle Benito, May You Rest in Peace in Your Heavenly Home.
Fondly remembered by Nedra, Rodney, Craig and Kristine van Dort [Australia]

Tammy, Adrian, Brian and Tanya join me in expressing our profound sadness at losing you, our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to dear Annette, Gavin, Diane & Roy, Jay & Therese, Gerry, Clementine & Sumith, Eugene & Jerome. It was my pleasure to befriend Benito back in the late 60s on the cricket field in Colombo - a friendship that has stood its test and lasted just over fifty years. It was a sincere unconditional bond of friendship that we will remember for years to come. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. MAY BENITO REST IN PEACE, AMEN!

Our sincere condolences go out to Annette on this irreplaceable loss; and demise of A great friend whom I knew from my schoolboy days at St. Joseph's College, Colombo. May the Good Lord give him eternal rest in Heaven; and give Annette and their children the strength& courage to overcome their grief at the loss of their very loved one.
"Words of Sympathy can never replace a loss
The loss of a loved one, who's loved so much
Words of Sympathy can only console one's sorrow, as such
At a time that one needs strength & courage to overcome the loss
One can only find solace
In the word of the Good Lord
He's our Creator and to him do we belong
Time is the healer, but happy memories are the final solace"
