Obituary of Mr. Robert Micks

Bob passed on February 5, 2022 at the age of 86.

Loving and devoted husband to Doris (nèe Shank) for 61 happy years. Cherished father to Julia (Jim Vassos), Maureen (Ron Barton) and Chris (Natalie Pelley). Proud, loving grandfather to Ryan, Evan and Siobhan. Beloved son of Bill and Violet and brother to Bridget.

Bob came to Toronto from Bray, Ireland in 1956, where he met the love of his life, Doris at Kew Beach Bible Class and they raised their family. He was a Boy Scout leader in Scarborough for many years. He attended St. Andrew’s Anglican Church and then St. Timothy’s in Agincourt. Bob was president of the Scarborough Deanery and a warden of St. Timothy’s. He helped Doris with Scarborough Marriage Preparation courses held from 1978 to 1989 for the twenty Anglican churches in Scarborough. After a career in the pharmaceutical industry with Lever Brothers, Bristol Myers, Chorney and Amisol, he returned to painting and enrolled in art classes. His enthusiasm and creativity were boundless and he became a member of the Scarborough Art Guild.

Bob had a great sense of humour and possessed the ability to make everyone feel comfortable and at ease. His kindness was never forced and his willingness to help others was endless. His warmth and generosity will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

In lieu of flowers and in respect of Bob’s battle with stomach cancer, donations to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook or the Scarborough Grace Hospital will be appreciated.
