Condolences to Joanne and all the family. Shirley certainly did her best to live her GG promise to God and Country. Met her at St. Timothys and engaged over her animated tales of Girl Guides involvement. May she Rest In Peace.

I have known Shirley for my entire Guiding Life of over 30 years. She has had such a major impact on so many youth and adults alike. Her memory will live on in each of us as we raise a flag, tie a knot or simply give back to our community. Thank you Shirley.

I had the pleasure of knowing Shirley through Guiding. She was absolutely wonderful in so many ways. I looked up to as a Guider and I was always amazed by her wealth of knowledge and her willingness to share it others. Shirley will be missed by her Sisters-in-Guiding.

I had the privilege of working with Shirley for many years at Scouts Canada, GTR. I think I drove her crazy monthly by submitting my expense account late, with torn and crumpled receipts that had been in my wallet for far too long. However, Shirley was always fair, and just, while also firm! She needed to be! I recall once the receipts had even been left out in the rain, yet Shirley accepted them, as hard as they were to decipher, with a smile! Again, it was a privilege to work with her.
I also met her every year since then on the Go train, as we would ride it together to the Haliburton Club Breakfast at the Royal York Hotel. I would lead the Invocation and she, more importantly, was a faithful participant. It was always a joy to reminisce with her about working together at Scouts and the good times we had there, fondly remember Joe, and share what was happening in our lives and respective families, on that annual train ride!
Shirley was a true Guide/Scout in every sense and meaning of the word and will be missed!
God Bless!

Rob, your memories of Shirley bring back some memories of my own. A very hard worker and conscientious at all times when it cam to her responsibilities. We will miss her at scouting events as I'm sure our Guiding cousins will also.
