MICHAEL PETELSKI October 14, 1932 – January 1, 2022
Peacefully, at Scarborough Centenary Hospital, on January 1, 2022 Michael Petelski passed away at the age of 89 years. Born in Benito Manitoba at his family farm, his exact birthdate was unknown. His family remembered it was at Harvest time and therefore the date in October was decided. He began working on the fam as a child and honed the skills he would be best known for as an adult. In 1960 he married Mary Petelski and they moved to Toronto to pursue employment opportunities. He found work as a field service mechanic with Carruthers Caterpillar dealers whom was later bought out by Tormont Cat. He became their customer service manager during his 47-year career with Tormont Cat. Mike was able to fix and/or built just about anything and lent a helping hand to many of his friends and family. A true jack of all trades.
He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Barbara Petelski (Mike Wallace), Grandson Colton Steeves, sister and brother in-law Ed and Sophie Turko of Winnipeg and Nephew Jeffrey Turko. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years Mary Petelski; mother and Father Fanny and Andrew, brothers Peter, Walter, Steven, Alex, Jim and Andrew and sisters Nadia and Anne.
The family would like to thank the staff of Cedarbrooke Retirement Home in Scarborough for their tireless attention and compassion.
Unfortunately, because of the situation with rampant spread of the Covid-19 Virus, there will be no formal service at this time.
