Obituary of Mr. Valence Slaven
Mr. Valence Slaven lovingly known as “Tall Boy” and “Chief” was born May 8, 1946 in the beautiful island of Antigua and Barbuda to parents Elaine Warner Slaven and Samuel Slaven. He was the 1st of 6 children; two younger sisters Avonella and Colette and two younger brothers Elmo and Junior.
Val operated a successful mechanic shop in Antiqua before making Canada his home. He retired working for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Greenwood yard and Harvey Shop and also had a passion for antique cars.
Val arrived in Canada 1975 and married Gweneth Bird his wife in 1976. He was a loving father to Sandee, Mitch and Justin. He was also blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren, Ryan, Devante, Orville, Zhadre, Aria, Omari, Arthur, Felix and Great Grandchildren Amaya, Nova and Summer all whom he loved unconditionally. He was an uncle to many Nieces and Nephews, cousins.
Sadly, Val passed in the early morning of December 8, 2021 at the age of 75. With heavy hearts he will be missed by surviving wife for 45years, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, friends and those whose life he came to touch.
Val is remembered for his kindness, warm soul, soft-spoken character and his love for others.
The viewing will be on Tuesday December 28, 2021 from 5pm to 8pm at Ogden Funeral Home in Scarborough. Then will be followed by the Funeral and Memorial Service on Wednesday December 29.
Due to COVID restrictions and protocol unfortunately limited invited guest can attend in-person.
