Obituary of Mr. Robert Walker

Please share a memory of Mr. Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Walker on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Shepherd’s Village, Scarborough. Robert was born in Toronto on August 8, 1931 to Robert and Jessie Walker. He was the third of eight children. Robert married the love of his life, Joyce Gunn, in 1956. They shared a loving and caring marriage for 65 years.

Robert is survived by his wife Joyce, their children Dan (Janet), Rebecca (Will) and Jeff (Karen), eight grandchildren: Scott (Melanie), Austin (Cat), Braden (Manou), Aaron (Courtney), Hannah, Rachel, Emma, Sarah and two great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Noah.

Robert enjoyed all sports and in particular hockey and golf. Robert was a dedicated fan of his children and grandchildren’s activities. He played hockey, he coached hockey, he built a back yard rink every winter for his children and all the children of the neighbourhood, who were warmly welcomed. Robert enjoyed the classic musicals of the 40s and 50s and he loved to sing and dance.  A memorable tradition at family dinners was his display of carving skills honed from a lifetime in the butcher profession.

Robert was known for his good sense of humour and he enjoyed being with family, friends and his church community, the Agincourt Baptist Church. Robert was ever loving to his family and a caring friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
