Ms. Oma Anirood

Obituary of Ms. Oma Anirood

Please share a memory of Ms. Oma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce our beloved Mother, Aunt, and Sister Oma Anirood passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 30, 2021.

She is joined again with her faithful husband, Charles, her beloved mother Latchpati, her father Anirood Balram, brother Lalman, and beloved nephew Richard. Oma was the devoted mother to her loving son Richard and daughter, Natasha. She will be forever missed as loving sister and aunt to her siblings Kay, Sukdeo, Johnny, David, Rohan, Peter, and Pam. Her nieces and nephews James, Arumie, Akash, Justin, Brian, Josh, Ashley, Chelsea, Anthony, Angelina, Jessica and Malia will miss her terribly. Her sister-in-laws Lalita, Debbie, Shanta, Asha, and brother-in-laws Steve and Dave, will think about her every day.

Oma will be greatly missed for her big heart, wit, sense of humour, and being the life of the party. She travelled extensively, visiting family members around the world and making everyone feel special and connected. She always made sure everyone felt welcome and comfortable, being the most hospitable person around.

Oma was born in Leguan, Guyana and immigrated to Canada when she was 17, ensuring she brought her 7 remaining siblings to Canada, acting as a second mother. Oma worked for the City of Toronto for 29 years, retiring at the age of 62. She was a truly a one of a kind person and children melted her heart.

In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes taken to the Kawarthas, a beautiful site she visited with her son.

We will miss you dearly, Oma, but were lucky to have you for the short time we did.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Diabetes Canada.
