I struggled to reconcile the news of your passing with the strong voice I heard speaking with you few days before your beautiful wife Priscilla broke this devastating news to me. It is difficult to imagine that I am writing a tribute to you this soon. I have actually come to believe that life is but like a walking shadow. Yes, we cannot question God neither can we determine when we are called to his bosom, but I find solace in knowing that you are in a better place. You are gone too soon but your legacy will forever remain with us. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace and may God comfort Priscilla, Goziem, Emeka and the entire Juwah and Odiwe families as we mourn your loss.

TRIBUTE : A GENTLEMAN, DR. E.I. JUWAH
It was with great shock and sadness, but also, with gratitude to Almighty God that I heard of your exit from this world. Just as life is a gift from God, death also comes from God who alone knows our beginning and our end. We are comforted by the simple life you lived. You were God fearing and Kind. A man with good disposition, moral excellence, intelligent and hardworking. You lived a quiet life worthy of emulation. Although you are no more in our sight, we are consoled that you are in a much better place with the Lord, where there is no more pain and sorrow.
May the Lord God strengthen those you left behind especially your loving sons, Goziem and Emeka and also your ever loving wife.
Rest In Peace. Adieu Gentleman Dr. E.I. Juwah.

Eugene was a consummate telecommunications engineer who made valuable improvement in both the mobile and internet services in the telecommunication sector when he was appointed as the Executive Vice Chairman of the National Communication Commission in Nigeria. A highly skilled professional. He made remarkable impact in the fledgling telecommunications industry in the country.

It is great honor to write this tribute in memory of Dr Eugene Juwah, a Boss, a colleague, a mentor, a friend and a brother. In whatever role I look at him, from whatever vantage point, Dr juwah stood apart as someone very special to me and my family.
Dr. Juwah came to the NCC at a time when the organization was in turmoil; competing elements had emerged with aims to take charge of its realms, leading to emergence of aliances within the organisation. Against this backdrop, the commission was yearning for a person with the personality of Dr Juwah, calm and collected, to lead it out of this predicament. This became the first challenge he had to face on assumption of duty. Dr juwah was able to restore sanity to the commission within a short period.
Right on the onset, Dr juwah has a very clear vision for where next to take the telecom industry, the initial challenge did not distract him. Apart from consolidating the revolution witnessed in the voice segment of the industry, he would be remembered for laying a solid foundation for Broadband in the country. It is therefore, safe to call him “Mr BROADBAND”
Dr Juwah , a caring and beloved family man, a cherished boss turned- brother, will be missed but never will he be forgotten by me.
Rest In Peace BROTHER

Tribute to An Epitome of Excellence - You burned out lighting others
Sometimes, people don’t actually die: they disappear to live in the best part of our hearts.
I have learned how to mourn without crying: how to live in the memories of their lifetimes
and enjoy the smiles that they bring.
I now understand death is inevitable and living is uncertain.
We say we love you, but God loves you more and has taken you to be with him.
But I won’t forget your legacies anytime soon or allow your good deeds to dissolve into nothingness.
Thank you, sir, for everything you did during your lifetime: you were the definition of excellence.
Your fatherly love would be missed forever, and your generosity can never be replaced.
Your death has left a void nobody else can fill, but the assurance of eternal life is the hope that we hold unto.
I miss you and will forever love you.
Rest on in peace, Dr. J

I remember the first time I met uncle Eugene… I would never forget that unique laughter, recognizable anywhere in the world. You would hear it and know immediately that was the voice of Dr Juwah.
Quiet, intelligent, thoughtful… the quintessential technocrat, passionate about telecommunications and it’s potentials, he rose to the zenith of his career… few ever achieve that.
He loved his boys deeply, and indeed was a devoted family man.
He still loves his family, but from the other side of eternity.
News of Uncle Eugene’s passing came to me as a shocker and left me dazed for several minutes.
Well… that is the way of the world, and you have played your part well.
Rest In Peace Dr J (as your wife, Aunty Priscilla would call you) You have done your absolute best, and many salute you!
You definitely would be missed a lot, and your contribution to humanity would be impossible to go unnoticed
Enjoy eternal rest Uncle Eugene.

Eugene Juwah was a quiet, likeable but enigmatic character. I met him some 25 years ago in the Tennis Section of Ikoyi Club, Lagos. I remember that I was struck by his simple and humble style. His modest demeanour surprised me even more when I realized that he was holding down a PhD from the University of Manchester.
I was especially intrigued to hear him say that he had earned a living writing code for Shell and Leventis. My respect for him soared when I found out that, for him, self-employment included many hours of writing code at home, mostly Visual Basic at that time.
A greater surprise awaited me, however, when I learnt in 2010 that my humble tennis pal, the one who had the fearsome forehand drive, had been tapped to fill the position of Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission. Eugene Juwah occupied this powerful position for five years (2010 - 2015).
And then, a few weeks ago, without any warning whatsoever, Eugene Juwah surprised me again, as his death was announced, straight out of the blue. That was shocking! Talk of an enigma!
May his soul rest in peace. May the Good Lord continue to comfort his wife, Prescilla, and their two young sons. May his siblings, and other members of his extended family also learn to cope with his sudden demise.

"More than a man" A tribute to a dear friend and brother - Dr. Eugene Juwah
Death as the saying goes is a necessary end and will come when it will but for our big brother, it came so soon, quite shocking and unexpected too.
Dr. Juwah was an embodiment of perfection, hard work, thoroughness, integrity and kindness, very unassuming and eager to help out at all times. He was a great Officer of the Public Service and a perfect gentleman to the core. The word Quintessential is an understatement when describing Dr. Juwah's state of professionalism and public life as a whole. The choice of his appointment and stint in Federal Government of Nigeria as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) came at a more better time when the institution needed to be strengthened and reinvigorated.
Dr. Juwah's professionalism and proven experience were gainfully deployed. His name has no doubt been written down along those of our great achievers and for posterity to behold . He would remain a shinning example and great motivation for the future generation . You touched so many lives during your short stay on earth and you will ever be remembered. A great husband, a great father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all, your sudden demise was quite painful. We pray that the Almighty God will grant all your loved ones the fortitude to bear the great loss.
For us the ONIANWA FAMILY, you still remain a great gem, " the jewel in the crown". Adieu big brother and friend. We will miss you dearly. May the soul of Dr. Eugene Juwah and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Tribute to Dr. Eugene Juwah. Fnsche, fncs, fnse. Mr. BROADBAND Takes The Final Bow.
Dr. J, news of your passing came like a bolt out of the blues to me and left much shock and awe that dried tears as emotion. Not because I thought of you as beyond dying particularly in the perilous time that we currently live in, what with Covid-19 and it’s cold hand of devastation which has not spared any continent or country of the world, no, it was not that. It was more to do with your person, a meticulous and disciplined person, who lived life with strict regimes and order. Whenever we discussed and the conversation veered to health and the state of it in Nigeria you always advocated self discipline and propagation of frequent health checks as prerequisite to checkmate the precarious state of health care sector of the Country and its even more decaying institutions. Maintaining dual residency in Nigeria and abroad in the last couple of years I always assumed that the conversations were for my benefit. We last spoke about two months before your demise and there were no health concerns whatsoever so nothing could have been farther away from one’s imagination or contemplation only to be hit with the news, not that you were down but utterly out, a final port. So sad, so shocking.
The Man Dr. Eugene Ikemefuna Juwah:
Dr. Eugene Juwah was the immediate past EVC/CEO of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) having served between July, 2010 and August, 2015, and was succeeded by the incumbent EVC/CEO of the Commission. A distinguished son of Asaba, Delta state, a Nigerian in its true sense with no tribal lenses but appreciating its cultural dynamics, a professional per excellence and a telecommunication guru having gained technical, operational and executive experience in his over 30 years in the industry traversing technical sales support, network setup, launch , operation and executive leadership prior to being tapped by President Goodluck E. Jonathan, GCFR to succeed Engr. Ernest Ndukwe as substantive EVC/CEO of the Commission. A self-effacing, focused, diligent, purposeful and goal oriented professional, he brought these qualities to the job, without razzmatazz as any regulator who understands the nature of the job ought to do. That none publicity hugging nature made him very effective on the job as he set out to consolidate on key aspects of the industry on which his predecessor had established visible footprints, but no doubts he left very indelible footprints of his own. The consolidation of the growth in the voice segment and the pivot to, and growth in the data segment was laid and cemented during his tenure. The personnel growth in manpower of the Commission was in full consonant with need as a regulatory Commission strictly in adherence to Federal Character Principles and strict observance of all policy regulations, financial and otherwise. As EVC, he enhanced all regulatory instruments and tools that drive the Commission’s regulatory activities, guided at all times by the frameworks set by the NCA 2003, which is the grundnorm for the Commission as regulator. He fleshed out and drove the SImCard Registration and enacted its regulations to booth, the Mobile Number Portability (MNP), monitoring performance improvement in quality of service by reviewing the QoS regulations, working with other stakeholders in developing cashless payment solutions for the Country, ECCs, etc. He grew the revenue profile of the Commission through developing innovative products to enhance wider product offerings by service providers even in greenfield areas. Assignment of spectral resources in transparent processes applauded by the industry. He was tagged Mr. Broadband because of his quest to develop for the Country a Broadband access expansion as key driver of the economy as envisaged under the National Telecommunications Policy and the National Broadband Plan which produced and adopted the Open Access Model as veritable roadmap to actualize the vision. His vision in this regards included a return of fixed line infrastructure.
Dr. Juwah’s stewardship in the Commission is sterling and indelible.
It is indeed very sad that his candle has been extinguished at a time when illumination provided by it would have been invaluable.
I had the privilege of serving you as Chief of Staff during your tenure. I found in you not only a boss but a mentor and a friend. Your self-effacing persona belied a mind of a solid intellectual with deep knowledge, understanding, vision and conviction backed by executive industry experience. You were an all rounder to borrow a cricket metaphor.
You are already sorely missed by me and many others. Those who had the privilege of serving in the Commission during your time are daily coming to terms with the sense of balance, equity and justice which you sought to bequeath, which some may not have fully understood at the time but time reveals all.
A keen tennis player and telecommunications researcher, you had more ideas to bring to bear in the industry but all those are gone now with your passing.
My Oga, my mentor and senior friend, fare thee well. Angels guide your path as you set out on your celestial journey. May God forgive your sins and grant your soul eternal rest.

We miss you very much Dr. Eugene Juwah. You lived humbly and worked hard to deepen the development of the telecommunications sector with your engineering and administrative skills. Your impact in this sector particularly in Africa is indelible. Your faith was strong and kept you going to the end. Now that you have triumphant, we pray for the repose of your soul. We also pray for the lovely family that you left still militant, for consolation and hope that you have been glorified and they too will meet you again. Rest in peace, Amen!
