Barb and I met at Ontario Hydro in the late 1960's at 620 University and became friends immediately. She was so quick to smile and see the bright side of life - impossible not to be drawn into her warm glow. We once organized an office Christmas party at the German Club which was a fun and successful project. I remember going on lunch-time walks with her which always included a stop for a prayer at a church along the way. Her faith was ever-present. I still have and treasure every piece of the beautiful crystal stemware that she so generously gifted me when I got married. We often met at the Hydro Pensioners' luncheon which gave us the opportunity to reconnect in person. She was a loving, generous, thoughtful and supportive friend who will be dearly missed. My sincere condolences and prayers to her family.

Barbara, a wonderful woman of God, loved her Lord deeply. She served Him in many ways. One was by serving Him faithfully, for over 35 years, by praying for people from all over Canada on The 700 Club Canada's Prayer lines. Her love and compassion for the hurting was very evident in her service to them on our phone lines, each Friday morning year after year she would be at her post offering encouragement and prayer to each one on the other end of the phone line. Barbara impacted many lives for the Kingdom and always rejoiced when another Soul met Jesus and came into the Kingdom through her prayers. Barbara will be missed greatly. In 2012 I found myself sitting at a table not knowing anyone at the Hydro pensioners' Christmas luncheon. Barb sat on my right and her friend Loretta on Barb's right. Barb chatted with both of us throughout the lunch which made me feel very comfortable. By the end of the luncheon Barb and I exchanged email addresses. We kept in touch for the next eight years. We always made plans to sit together at future pensioners' luncheons and attended the social events and other outings downtown. I will miss Barb's company and the long telephone conversations. Barbara and I worked at Ontario Hydro and later saw each other at the Pensioners' Luncheons. She was always a very friendly, pleasant girl and we will miss her at our table at the luncheons. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this sad time. Susan (Cooper) Roden
