On behalf of my family, I offer my condolences on the passing of our friend, Ruth Mallett. Ruth was a presence in our lives for over 50 years, through her friendship with my mother, and she joined us, always so enthusiastically, in the celebration of important religious holidays and family gatherings. She always remembered our children, with small, and always fun, gifts. She was thinking about us, and we were important to her. We will remember Ruth and her sincere presence in our lives. May she rest in peace.

Sincerest condolences on the passing of Ruth. I will always remember her spirit and wit at the Volunteer's Lounge at the AGO. The light and sparkle that accompanied her presence ill be missed not to mention her elegant sense of style. Rest in peace and light.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Milt and Ruth's family.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ruth many years ago at the AGO. She decided that we were to be friends - how lucky was I!
Over the years I was a recipient of many gifts of candies and surprise care packages. I will miss her smile and her infectious laugh when she thought she was doing something sneaky. It always brightened my day!
I enjoyed our talks, the stories she would tell about her life and the advice she would give. I will miss our conversations and knowing that I can just pick up the phone and call.
Rest in peace my friend

I am so sorry to miss Ruth's funeral. (I am in Newfoundland)
I will always remember Ruth for her love of adventure and wicked sense of humour.Always creative, she put her own stamp on the world. Ruth joined our family of 4 unruly kids and one crazy dog when she came to Canada from her beloved Barbados. We had no idea what an adventure that would turn out to be. We shared wonderful memories especially of summers spent in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Ruth loved people and volunteered for many organisations. The Canadian Cancer Society's Daffodil Day was one we volunteered as a family. Ruth lived life with enthusiasm and energy but when you live with such passion, there is heartache as well. But over a long, interesting life and the love and support of Milt, she knew she was loved by friends and family.
Ruth, we will miss you.
Love always,
Brooke Jarvis and Family

Ruth had been in our lives for over 50 years. She met my mother, Fae, working as a PSW across the hall from my grandmother at the Baycrest. She always worshipped my mother for her good sense and financial guidance. She really loved her and for that I loved her back.
She was always at our family gatherings for the Jewish holidays where she honed in on her favourites: matzah balls, gefilte fish and "bones"" and nothing else except perhaps my sister, Barbara's potato pudding. Always energetic, she would help with the massive cleanup. And of course she never came empty handed whenever she visited with whatever she picked up at Honest Ed's, later Dollarama, supermarkets or even the casinos she loved to attend, and birthday gifts.
After Mom passed away in 2006, we saw her less but we kept in touch and visited when we could.
Her laughter and largesse of spirit and giving will be missed.
With love from Susan

I send my heartfelt condolences to all the family and friends of the amazing Ruth. She was indeed one of a kind, a women of great independence and determination, one who always took time to check in with you, to feed you at any moment of the day or night. Some of that tasty food would often look a little mysterious at times, not like something you'd ever seen before, but boy was it good. I think that she flipped the dull Canadian diet of the 1960's into a array of new spices and flavours that were a wonder to behold and enjoy. In her own way she opened my eyes to the world beyond Toronto. I will always be thankful to her for that. She was tough at times, honest with her feelings and loyal to friendships, and of course generous with her dollars. For some reason, she always seemed to have 50 bucks in her back pocket which would be quickly extended in your direction. "Take the kids to a movie" "Buy some takeout for the family" "Here, do whatever you want with it", and "oh, I found a special on 12 pairs of white socks, two extra large t-shirts and a dozen forks at Honest Eds, here you have them!". Makes me smile just remembering all that.
One last thing, if you were ever able to land a funny punchline in a story, Ruth would always laugh with a great, good spirited guffaw and come near to bursting with joy and happiness. That's the Ruth that I will remember and always cherish. May she rest in peace.
Love, John

I am sharing my heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Art Gallery of Ontario volunteers, where Ruth volunteered for over 30 years! Ruth was a well-loved member of our community. She had a kind word for everyone, and enjoyed her relationships with so many folks Gallery, staff and volunteer alike. I will remember her for her vivacious, colourful outfits (she was the best-accessorized of us all!) and her generosity of spirit. I loved pouring over Ruth's various scrapbooks, that beautifully collaged years of memories at the Gallery. She will be deeply missed.

On behalf of all the women of the Toronto Jewish Quilting Project I would like to express my deepest condolences on the passing of our dear quilting sister Ruth. She had been an integral part of our group for many many years. Dedicated and generous she added love to every stitch in making our Angel Quilts. Ruth brightened our room with her big smile and colourful attire. She will be sorely missed as we begin to gather again. Forever in our hearts. May her memory be a blessing.
Lovingly,

Condolences to John Lewis and all others in Ruth's family.
Our thoughts are with all of you during this difficult time. Ruth will be greatly missed by her Caribana friends. Her charisma, personality, and charm whenever she entered a group meeting, and especially her singing on Caribana parade day.

My deepest sympathy to Milton Best and the family. I met Ruth many, many years ago when she volunteered at the Art Gallery Shop. We became good friends, and volunteered at a number of social events in the city. Ruth will always be remembered by the many volunteers and staff at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto Caribbean Carnival, the 519 Green Space, Pride Toronto and the members of the Prayer Group.
We will always remember her lovely smile, her bright coloured clothing - she was always well attired. As she walked along the halls of the Art Gallery, she would distribute candies and treats, with a little history of the Caribbean Islands.
May God grant to the deceased a place in the communion of the Saints. Eternal rest grant unto her and let perpetual light shine upon our deceased friend, Ruth Norene Mallett.
"If I can help somebody as I pass along then my living shall not be in vain!"
May Ruth be brought into eternal life in God. Rest in peace good friend and loving lady.
With prayerful wishes,
Judith Pascall and family
