Obituary of Mr. Gerald John Lazare
Sept. 25, 1927-March 23, 2021
Passed away peacefully at home on March 23.. Predeceased by his parents Maurice and Abiata Lazare and his brothers and sisters.
Sadly mourned and fondly remembered by his wife Setsuko, son Jeff Lazare, nephews Aaron (Ally) Lazare, Brian Lazare, Ruth Lazare and many others.
Gerald had a wonderful career as an artist. He started out at the age of 16 when he was hired to do comic strips during the war. He then became an illustrator and taught part-time at the Ontario College of Art which enabled him to become a serious painter. He had many successful shows, received numerous awards and has paintings in many prestigious collections including the City of Toronto. His wife Setsuko is also an accomplished painter and they published a book of their work together “East Meets West” in 2007.
He was loving and devoted husband to his wife Setsuko and a wonderful father to his son Jeff.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date due to the pandemic.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to Doctors Without Borders.
