Obituary of Mr. Charles Gooden

Charles Gooden, 93, of Scarborough, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 14, 2021 at home in Scarborough, Ontario.

He was born January 25, 1928, in Alexandria, Jamaica, a son of the late Elliot and Marie (Jones) Gooden.  He was the oldest to his siblings Danny, Hensley (deceased), Winston, Viola (deceased), Gloria, Linda (deceased) and Alsia.  He also had two other siblings Edward (deceased) and Dorothy (deceased).

When in Jamaica, he was a horticulturist and nursing orderly before emigrating to Canada in 1961.  He married Marion (Adel) Gooden on September 23, 1961.  Together they had three children, Maxine, Sharon (deceased) and Dale.  He also welcomed daughter Nadine into his family as his own.  He is survived by Adel, Maxine, Nadine, Dale and his wife Mellissa and their three children (Justin) Charlie, Caylee and Christie.  He is also loved and survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces and countless family members.

Charles was a nursing orderly at Riverdale Hospital, (now Bridgepoint Health) and also worked at various hospitals within the Toronto area so that he could provide for his family.  In his spare time he was also a Fuller brush man, selling their products.  Charles was very industrious and seemed to be able to do anything with his hands, his hobbies included string art, rug hooking and upholstery. 

Virtual viewing will be available at 12;15 p.m. A private family funeral service will be held 12:45 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Ogden Funeral Home, with Pastor Amos Sarwan officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Hills Cemetery in Toronto.
