To Kimberlee, Carolyn, Kathryn, Colin and the extended Families
It was an honour to listen to the well deserved and heartfelt tribute to Jean. In many ways, Jean was a one of a kind and a spark of life to her family and all those around her. Her energy, compassion, determination and love shone through on everything she touched. She will of course be missed, but Jean left a fabulous legacy of memories for all to cherish. All the very best to all of you at this sad time.

Bob and I and our daughters have so many wonderful memories of our visits to Sturgeon Lake, where we rented one of Jean's cottages for a week each summer for many years. Jean and Ken ( Bob worked with Ken at Thomson Head Office ) made us feel not like renters, but like family right from the start. Jean insisted we send the kids over to them one night each year so we could have an evening out in Lindsay for dinner and a play at the Kawartha Playhouse. Jean taught Rebecca to knit, loaned us canoes, books and movies and kept us up to date on things to see and do in the area. Ken took us for boat rides to Fenelon for ice cream..they were such wonderful hosts. Jean's love of her family was evident always..she was so proud of you all. Long after the girls were grown and we were no longer going to the cottage we were lucky enough to be on Jean's long list of friends to receive her yearly Christmas cards. I still have the ones with her drawings on the front. Our sincere condolences to the family,
Bob and Marny Malcolmson, Stratford Ontario.

Kimberlee, Carolyn, Kathryn, Colin and Families,
Peggy and I share your sadness about (Aunt) Jean’s passing. We have many fond memories of time spent with your mother/grandmother and stories told. You can take comfort in knowing that she lived a full, rich life and would not have left us if there was any project left to complete.
Jean had a surprising ability to reach out and make a connection with people. Many years ago we had a conversation about how I missed autumn in Ontario. For several years after that conversation, we would consistently receive a single red maple leaf in the mail. No note, just a single red leaf to remind us of Jean.
Your mom set a great example of how to live life with passion and compassion. she honestly made it look easy.
Cheers to a life well lived.
Love Donald and Peggy

Jean's obituary was delightful (even though that adjective is not often used for an obituary!). It really did capture that Jean was a force to be reckoned with. She was an indefatigable networker. When I would see her, she always told me she had been in the delivery room for my birth which I thought was rather a special bond. She stayed after the end of her shift to see it through. She was just finishing her nurse's training then. And she always reminded me that her sister Margaret had been my first Sunday School teacher at Knox Presbyterian. She remembered those kinds of details about everyone. She understood that those kinds of connections were special for the long-time families of Agincourt as the landscape there irreversibly changed.
A few years ago, I sent Jean the attached photo taken at our farm on Sheppard east of Brimley in winter 1953. It is of my grandmother Jean Davidson, my dad Bruce Davidson with me plus Monty our dog - and Jean Kennedy looking happy to be there. The survivor of the last team of work horses my dad had on the farm came out of retirement to pull our old cutter through the fields each winter. Jean told me she remembered that day. She said she had done something for my grandma and our family wanted to do something nice for her so she asked for a sleigh ride. Typical of Jean, she downplayed whatever it was she did to help my grandmother and lauded the Davidsons for being so kind as to give her a sleigh ride!
It really is the end of an era in Agincourt.....
I send sympathies to you all.
Jean Davidson

The staff and students of Agincourt Collegiate send our deepest condolences to Jean’s family.
Jean has given so much to our school and our students through many years. We will very much miss Jean’s presence in our school. Jean was a special person for sure, always with a project on the go, always happy and uplifting to anyone lucky enough to meet her. She was simply so much fun to be with. Jean headed up the activities and initiatives of the ACI Alumni Association at ACI for over 30 years. She attended countless special occasions at the school through the years, including Commencement, Awards Assemblies, Remembrance Day Assemblies, Business Luncheons, ACI Reunions, and many Proms. Jean even attended our very first June Commencement in 2019, held at the Agincourt Pentacostal Church. Jean’s contributions to our school and the Agincourt Community, too numerous to mention, will be remembered with great fondness. Her legacy to ACI will continue with the Spirit Bell, that is presented to a Grade 9 student annually at the Awards Assembly, and in many special awards that are presented in Jean’s name to graduating students at Commencement.
Members of our music department are deeply honoured that music performed by Agincourt choirs and ensembles will be part of the service for Jean.
We are honoured and humbled by Jean’s love for our school. Jean meant so much to us and we will always remember her. Our school library will now be named ‘The Jean Campbell Library’, where much of her alumni work has been archived, so that we can honour Jean for the years to come.

Jean was the Grande Dame of Agincourt C.I. whose roots in the community and in the school ran deep. Her warm and heartfelt commitment to the students and staff of A.C.I. was a model of the importance and values of community service that she so strongly believed in.
Her presence and participation in countless school assemblies, activities and commencements over many years gave connectivity and continuity to the community of the school and generations of students. Agincourt C.I. was much blessed by Jean's championing of the school, its history and its place in the community.

I have special fond memories of Jean in connection with Kennedy Public school when I was a superintendent in the Scarborough Board of Education. We were there together many times both visiting the school and for special occasions.. One that I remember was when they were having an event which required wearing your old running shoes. When we think of Jean, our summertime friend and neighbour; we think of shared smiles, laughter and jokes, as Jean worked away in her garden at the back of her cottage or when Marg enjoyed the pleasure of Jean’s company while sharing the occasional lunch. The youngest of the Keenan family have fond memories of watching the Great British Bake Off with Jean topped off with their rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow (where I am certain she is now). And who could forget her 80th birthday party with the fantastic food, pianist and the bobble head competition, between the Keenan brothers and the Campbell girls.

Thinking of you, Campbell cousins, at this sad time, and sending hugs your way.
Your Mom was great fun, humorous, welcoming and warm - a good tonic, I'm sure, to help enliven our Dad's quiet life as an only child!
I especially treasure memories of her stopping by our farm en route to the cottage in what was, to my sister and I, a delightful whirlwind of unexpected entertainment and picnics in summertime when we were kids; at least once she was taking refuge from an incipient thunderstorm, much to our Dad's amusement!
Our hearts are full of all the warmth from visits to Kennedy Road. Whether bumping down the stairs or taking special delivery of a newborn puppy, it was always a treat to stop off and see Auntie Jean and the gang.
Love to you all,

Thinking of the big hole in the world, now that Jean the Machine has departed this mortal coil.
Loved her with all my heart. She was so easy to be with. I always felt gotten when we talked. She had a brilliant knack for giving advice, but never making it feel like a lecture. And, damn, was she funny. I have a bazillion memories of her, not the least of which was the cheese fondue in your back yard one summer evening, so laden with kirsch, it's a miracle we weren't all carried away on stretchers. And her infamous practice of marching down to the basement each December, emerging with an armload of tangled lights, clamping the plug in her teeth, tossing the tangled mess on the bush outside the front door, plugging them in and wiping her hands - job done!
She was quite a gal. I only wish I could have witnessed her at work as a nurse. She must have rocked it. So pragmatic and on-the-job, always with a smile, that inimitable twinkle in her eye, and a care for everyone who came her way. She did a helluva job raising you characters. She and Nith were so committed that you all had everything you needed to succeed in life, and they turned themselves inside and out to make sure you did. And where they weren't sure they themselves had the experience, they simply brought in consulting help! While I never saw Jean in action with her grandkids, I have a strong hunch she also rocked it as a Grandmum, and did special things with each of her grandchildren.
I know Jean had been dealing with the perils of aging for a bit, and even so, it's never easy to say goodbye to someone you loved so much. Sending all you siblings, sons and daughter-in-law, and grandkids, love and a big virtual hug, until we can be together and hug it out in person.
Much love,

Dear Campbell's;
Please accept condolences from your cousins, the Kennedys of Kennedy Road. I remember the great excitement that I felt as a child when I would hear my parents, John and Shirley, mention about some upcoming visit with the Campbells. Not sure why I would get excited, I mean we were only a short distance apart in my early years. It was fun to watch and listen to everyone as they visited, played games and sometimes pranks. Inevitably our parents would start to reminisce about their youth and I couldn't get enough of it. Even more exciting was when we were joined by the Scotts. What a fray it would turn into, at least in my mind anyway! I think I even have a few misty memories of Great Uncle John. From my start at 2756 Kennedy Road to our move to 24 Ovendon Crescent and then onto R.R. #1 Mount Albert, a clan gathering was the ultimate in entertainment.
I've been away from southern Ontario for many years now, actually decades, and feel that I've lost touch with my cousins and the lives they have been living. I was so pleased to be invited to Jean's 80th birthday. I have to admit that I was so excited to be able to see some of my interesting cousins after such a long time. What an amazing time we had at the lake. Jean had a great celebration and we visited, played games and some pranks too. Wow just like our parents.
When mom, Shirley, passed away in 2017 we went to the Knox United cemetery after the service and who do you think came toddling along? Cousin Jean of course. I sent my son, John, to escort her to a nearby bench and sat with her and she said to me, "Shirley was my twin you know." I asked her what she meant and she said, " We're the same age and the only ones left now."
It has always been a pleasure to spend time with amazing people and I consider cousin Jean to be one of those outstanding ones. It's no wonder that she and Ken raised a great family.
Sending my love at this difficult time.
