Obituary of Mr. Henry Dyal
Henry Victor Dyal – Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Henry Victor Dyal – a loving father to Neil (Juliana) and Andy (Brenda/Susan); and grandfather to Brooke, Rachael, William, and Matthew. He was also a dear brother, uncle, and friend. Henry was predeceased by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Rita (nee Raghunath), in 2019 after nearly sixty years of marriage. On January 15th 2021, Henry was reunited with her once again.
Henry was born in Berbice, Guyana on March 25th, 1936. He completed his formal education in Guyana and worked as a teacher for two years at the Albion Canadian Mission School and Corentyne High School. Following his teaching career he joined the Civil Service in the Magistrates department and was employed as the Clerk of Court for the West Demerara Judicial District. He later held other roles including: Justice of the Peace, and Commissioner of Oaths and Affidavits and Statutory Declarations for the State of Guyana. He was employed by the Supreme Court of the Judicature and Court of Appeal just before he emigrated with his wife and two sons to Canada. They settled in Toronto in 1973.
In Toronto, Henry found gainful employment with the Bank of Montreal. He completed further studies in Business Administration at York University and became a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Bankers all while supporting his beloved wife and young sons. Henry served in various management capacities at the Bank of Montreal for twenty seven years until his retirement.
Although Henry had a brilliant and illustrious career with the Bank, his brilliance and luster were unmatched on the home front. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a religious man and instilled in his family a fear, reverence, and devotion to God above all else. His genuine care, enthusiasm, and warm smile endeared him to countless friends and relatives. Among other things, Henry enjoyed fishing and golfing with his son and with friends. Although he may not have been the best golfer, he was by far the most honest. Still, of all the achievements in his lifetime, Henry always held that his greatest accomplishment was marrying Rita Raghunath, his high school sweetheart. It is a comfort to know that they are together again in eternity.
In the last few years of his life, Henry sought the support and care provided by the Wexford Residence in Scarborough. The family wishes to personally thank Dr. Bacher, Ciera, Grace, Anna, Alam, Dorothy, Monique, Alma, and all the staff who provided loving care for Henry over the last few years. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that a donation be made to Parkinson Canada.
