Life without your strong determination.
Life without your strong sayings about the lord.
Life without your physical presence here on this earth.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal.
Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
Goodbye my pretty little lady
I’m going to miss you, your kindness, and especially your laugh.
Love always Davea(Tracy)

I met my Great Grandma Lucille for the for very first time when I came to Canada as a teenager. Ironically I had met and remember her mother — My Great Great Grandmother many times before she passed away some years prior.
Great Grandma Lucille was part of the first wave of my family’s migration to Canada from Jamaica in the 1970s, and set the foundation for the rest of us including myself, maternal grandmother, mother, siblings, uncles, aunt and a tonne of cousins that arrived in the 1980s and 1990s. When I first arrived in Canada as a visitor in the Summer of 92, my original intention was to visit for a month and then go back “home”. Here I was in a strange land with a lot of family members that I was meeting for the very first time. I grew up in Kingston, Jamaica with my dad’s side of the family, and had never been to Westmoreland — the Western tip of the island where my mom’s side of the family, ncluding my great grandmother, had roots. My Great Grandmother was one of those that encouraged me to stay in Canada and apply for permanent residency. She also helped a lot in getting me to feel settled in my new environment; my new home.
I have a lot of fond memories of my great grandmother. Reflecting back on our time together, a few things stick out that will always be sketched in my memory of her:
1. She was always jovial and funny — always smiling and cracking jokes when people were around. In fact, my mom who got to visit her a few days before she passed away, said that she was in good spirits and cracking jokes with her almost the whole time she was there.
2. She loved cooking Manicotti and would cook it at least once a week back in the day. I remember always looking forward to “Manicotti Day”. I didn’t even know there was such a thing as Manicotti before I came to Canada, but it was delicious, and my great grandma knew that I loved it and made sure I had ample servings whenever she cooked it.
3. She loved baseball. I remember how excited and animated she was when the Blue Jays were on their way to winning the World Series in 1992 and again in 1993. That was my first introduction to Baseball. I was more familiar with Cricket.
While I am sad that my great grandma has now passed away at the age of 99, I do take some solace in the fact that she lived a very long, happy and mostly healthy life. She brought joy, and smiles to a lot of faces including mine, throughout her life. She may no longer be around, but the happy memories will live on.

My most sincere condolences to the family. Aunt Myrtle was a very dear sweet, kind, wonderful Lady. She was an amazing aunt, and sister to my mother. I loved Aunt Myrtle. It was such a treat to go visit her up in the hills in Cops, Belvedere, Jamaica. There are so many fond memories of my time with her in Jamaica as a little girl. Those memories and special times continued to grow later on when we all came Canada. Aunt Myrtle always had a smile for me. I always felt nice, happy, calm and loved around her. She was always graceful and dressed and behaved like a true lady setting an example for us to follow. She loved and cared very much for her large family and was very happy to have them in her life. She was very close to my Mom, who also passed away, and fondly known as Mammy. Auntie M was an angel on earth and now she's gone to heaven. We are all sad to see her go but the angels have been waiting to take her to the Father where she will be happy forevermore. God bless all of you her loving family that she left behind. We will all miss her. However, I know she will always be with us in spirit and may she forever rest in peace with God. ~ With much love, Vinnette Somers-Mohan

To Norma and the extended family of Lucille (sister Lucille to me), please accept my condolences on her passing.
What a pleasure it was to have met her, such a beautiful lady with a sweet and gently spirit, and then to have developed such a unique friendship. I recall how she would diligently phone me years ago to say that she and Norma would be away on vacation, and sometimes it was just to say hello.
In all our conversations or home visits, there was never a complaint about her deteriorating health, she truly lived out the word of the LORD to "give thanks in all circumstances". She will be truly missed.
My prayers are with the family.
