VOTE OF THANKS ON BEHALF OF THE ADZUA FAMILY JANUARY 16TH 2021
Good morning loved ones. My name is Leonard Kange. My wife and I and our children are family friends to the Adzuas.
On behalf of Uncle Sev’s wife Terngu Adzua and their children: Terver, Nguher, Oryiman and Nenge it is my pleasure to give the vote of Thanks today.
Firstly, I would like to thank God Almighty for giving us the opportunity to have been a part of Uncle Sev’s life and enabling us to be here to celebrate his life.
Uncle Sev was a gentle soul and the most humble man I ever knew. You would never know from the way he carried himself that he is a well accomplished gentleman. A nuclear Engineer who worked for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for over 25 years inspecting nuclear facilities in over 13 countries around the world until his retirement in 2009. Only God knows how many lives he saved in the performance of his duties by ensuring that the nuclear facilities are operated in accordance with laid down guidelines.
Uncle Sev also loved his family. His wife and soul mate Aunty Terngu, and children Terver, Nguher, Oryiman and Nenge. One of the qualities that endeared him to most people was his selfless generousity and wry sense of humour. My family and I have so many stories to share. Permit to share only one in the interest of time. We experienced this generousity the very first day we met him. We had just landed in Canada in 2003 and checked into a hotel downtown. My Cousin, Doo Gar gave me Uncle Sev’s number. I called uncle Sev a couple days later and introduced myself over the phone. He immediately asked to know where we were staying and to our greatest surprise Uncle Sev arrived at our hotel within the hour demanding that we pack our things and come to the house where Aunty Terngu had food waiting for us. Now mind you, the fact that they had guests visiting from the US did not stop him. He arrived at the hotel with the guests in tow. This was the kind of man he was. I am sure you all have similar stories to tell about Uncle Sev and Aunty Terngu.
So I want to thank you all for honouring the passing of this great man and for supporting his family in their time of sorrow. Your prayers, well wishes, gifts of love, financial and otherwise are fully appreciated. May the Lord replenish you a millionfold.
Terver, Nguher, Oryiman and Nenge, Thank you for the way you have rallied around your mother, supporting her and each other. I am sure that Uncle Sev is looking down from heaven proudly on all of you. Please continue to love and support each other. I know this is what he would have wanted.
Thank you to the IAEA and Uncle Sev’s co-workers for your prayers and continued support.
Thank you to Aunty Terngu and the children’s colleagues for your compassion and care.
Thank you Dr Pius Simon for such a moving tribute. Your words brought fond memories of the man he was to our minds in a profound way.
Thank you to this funeral home. Yours is such a crucial job and you probably do not get thanked enough. It is comforting for us to know that you have taken care of everything including making it possible for all our family, friends and well-wishers from all over the world to participate in this this event in a safe way given the pandemic.
Thank you to our dear clergy, Fr. Dean Mercier and Fr. Terungwa Abu for your prayers and intercessions on behalf of uncle Sev and his family. May God bless you and yours as you continue to labour in his vineyard
Finally, I would like to close with the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 107:
“Give thanks God for He is good. His love endures forever”
Dear loved ones, Uncle save has answered the call to Glory. Let us not despair but give thanks to God for Uncle Sev’s life for God’s love for Ucle Sev and for all of us endures forever.
May the Lord bless you and your families abundantly in Jesus name. Amen.

Uncle Sev Tim, Adzua “An Uncle Like No Other”
It is with deepest sorrow and sadness that I write this tribute. You were an uncle like no other, an epitome of simplicity, kind, loving, humble, very caring. Simply put a gentleman with a good a heart. You welcomed us into your home with a generous arm and loved us like a father. You were the only man that called me Maggi after my Dad. It always made me feel incredibly special.
You always greeted us with joyful countenance each time you see us, and your cheerfulness and unending generosity were your unique identity. You touched so many lives by your selfless and countless acts of kindness and generosity. Always giving without expecting any favours in return You were and will always be an inspiration to me and my family. You were a big Dad to our children, and you loved them beyond words will describe. You have left a big void in our lives that will never be filled. We thank God for your life, though we bid you farewell, but your spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Rest in Peace Uncle Sev, you will be greatly missed!!!!

We extend our heartfelt condolences to you. Uncle Timothy was one of the warmest, most gentle men I know. He in fact gave the traditional Tiv name to my only child, and I will never forget that. Terngu and family. Know that we will always be here for you. Please try not to be too sad, but remember the great things about our father Timothy, which will bring a smile to your face.

I met Uncle Tim when I relocated to Canada with my family. Uncle Tim and his family welcomed us with open arms. It wasn’t like we were meeting for the first time. The bond with uncle Tim and his family was instant.
As usual, Uncle Tim sounded full of life when I called him on Christmas Day. Little did I know that that would be the last time I’ll be talking to a man I have come to respect so immensely.
Uncle Tim, you’re a man with a big and kind heart. Unfortunately, you have left us too soon. And you’ll be greatly missed. With a heavy heart, I pray that you will have a peaceful eternal rest.

Terngu,
So sorry about the loss of Mr. Adzua. With the stories I heard from the service, he was definitely a great person and I was amazed in awe of the impact he had around the world. A common theme of those stories was a person who was welcoming, which he was with me when I came to visit. I wish I had known him longer to experience his wisdom and kind personality which I'm sure has certainly benefitted a lot of people.

Dear Terngu, Terver, Nguher, Oyima and Nenge,
What you are going through at this time is unimaginable given how difficult this had been for those us who did not live with Uncle Tim. We can only pray that God console you.
Timothy Adzua became our uncle Tim from the very first day I met him at the first ANNIC BBQ I attended in Canada. That day we both got to know that he was the older brother of my high school classmate Adzua. I becàme his younger sister that day and he treated my husband, children and I that way.
He and aunty braved a winter storm to be the first family to visit me at the hospital when my daughter Sofinari was born.
The first time I went back Nigeria, uncle Tim was at the airport to send me home with some money for his family. He told me that if for any reason, I am confronted were by thieves, I should not try to conceal the money or fight back, give them the money and run.
The love he has for his wife Terngu and his children is palpable one can almost touch it. May the good Lord cocoon them in His arms and comfort them.
I have too many stories that space will not allow me to share. To the adzua family, as you have heard many times before, Uncle Tim was a good man who touched our lives in so many different ways: always giving unconditionally to everyone, always helping and encouraging people to move forward to be the best they can be. He celebtated our successes and shared in our griefs as if they were his. Aunty Tee supported him in all of these. I can loudly say that our lives are richer for having known Uncle Tim.
We will always miss you you greatly.
On behalf of Ochoga, Sofinari, Victor and myself, Stella, thank you Aunty Tee, Terver, Nguher, Oyima and Nenge for sharing your father with us.

We wish our deepest condolences to the Adzua family. Tonton Tim, as we liked to call him was a gentle soul, a brother to our father and as a result his family was an extension of our own. We were always so excited to see his smiling face, especially in the rotunda of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) headquarters in Vienna. He would find us slouched over on the couch impatiently waiting for our father to finish work. His presence brought so much comfort, he would joke with us, keep us entertained and bring us upstairs to pleasantly disturb the last few minutes of our dad's work day, a forceful yet friendly reminder that it was time to go home. Although unexpected, we know our beloved Tonton Tim is home now, resting in peace. We obtained so much love from him in the time we had together that we cannot imagine what his children and Terngu are going though at this present time. We hope that they find comfort, peace and courage. Tonton Tim was admired and adored by so many, he lives in our hearts and his legacy lives on in every person he has touched.

We have been friends with the Adzua family since we knew them in 1999. They have become a part of our extended family. It is always just a phone call away, to visit each other at short notices: to share a family time, greet visitors, commiserate on losses due to bereavement. They provide a focal point for members of our community in the Greater Toronto Area. "Uncle Tim", as Mr. Timothy Adzua was known, was always a friendly, approachable, jovial personality. He showed love to our children through actions and endearing words. His death is a great loss to us and the wider community. We will miss him greatly. Timothy Sev Adzua was a gentleman's gentleman. Authentic and humble without compare. A great lover of people. I remember when my daughter was born in Kingston in 1999. Sev and his wife, Terngu, drove all the way to Kingston from Toronto to see the baby and help relieve us of the stress we were under. Terngu cooked and cleaned our house while Sev gave me much needed advise. Such is the nature of this couple as anyone who has met them will attest. Sev's loss is devastating to all of us and I can't even imagine what it means to Terngu and the children. We pray that God will give them the fortitude to soldier on consoled in the fact that Sev is resting with the Lord who chose to call him home at this time. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

With deep shock and Total submission to the will of God, that I received the sad news of the passing into glory of our beloved Timothy Sev-av Adzua. We cannot question God for what has happened. May Almighty God grant him eternal rest in his kingdom.
Jesus told us in John 14:1-3 that, we should trust in God and in Him that He is going to prepare a place for us. That if he prepares a place, He will come back and take us to be with Him that we may be where he is. I believe that Sev-av is with the Lord now.
Sev-av was a gentle, humble, kind-hearted and a very intelligent person. We will miss him greatly. We love Him but God loves him more. Adieu.

Dear Terngu and the entire Sev Adzua family, I am unable to put together the appropriate words to describe the depth of this loss. For those of us who are people of faith, we take solace in the fact that the good Lord knows best and does everything for a purpose, even when it is not comprehensible to us mere mortals. Be consoled in the fact that Sev was one of a kind, a most generous man with his laughter, kindness and generosity. The impact and difference he has made in this world will stand the test of time. May his soul rest in perfect peace with the Lord, and may He give you the fortitude to bear this indescribable loss. James and Mbarumun Gire and family.

A Tribute to my Dear Friend & Brother Timothy Sev Adzua.
The news of your death came as a shock and made me realize that indeed God takes away the good people from this earth to spare them from the impending evil that lies ahead. For the over 41 years our families have been together, I can proudly say you were a gentle, kind-hearted and peaceful man who was always ready to sacrifice everything for the progress and comfort of others. We watched as many took advantage of your kindness and sometimes urged you to react, but in your gentle and calm nature, you'll always smile and tell us it's ok.
Indeed Sev was an angel God sent to live with us but we did not realize it until God took him away. His life taught us humility, love, kindness and how to live at peace with all men. He completed his work on this earth and God, his creator, has given him the rest he deserves.
My heart goes out to his wife Terngu & the children. God does not give us burdens we cannot bear. He feels & shares your hurts and pains. He is a God of comfort & His faithfulness endures forever. He will never leave or forsake you. Just trust & hold tight to God to lead you in the days ahead. God will be glorified even in this death. God has given you a guardian angel to watch over you. Our prayers are with you.
It's my prayer that through the death of our dear brother, God will help us all to number our days and apply our hearts to wisdom. Our brother has fought a good fight, he has finished his race and has won his crown. We love you Sev, but God loves you more. We will miss you greatly but we are comforted because we know where you have gone and we will meet again. Continue to rest in peace till we come.
Adieu my brother & friend.

To the memory of Timothy Adzua.
Our dear friend, Timothy Adzua, writing this condolence lines is the most difficult, sad and quite unpleasant thing for us to do. A reflection back to your last visit to Vienna 2020, never indicated that was to be the last time of seeing you, embracing one another, admiring you, your smiles that soothe our hearts, your company of love, respect, vibrancy and your embodiment of everything humane. We heartily said bye- bye to meet again then. But our almighty God decided otherwise. He called you back to himself when we cherished meeting you again. God knows why he took you away from us. We are missing you. But you left the best of memories about you for us. Memories full of love, humanity, kindness, humility and exemplary willingness to assist others at all times.
Timothy, thank you for the friendship and love and all the good human virtues and values you gave us. You shall remain in our memories for ever. May God take care of you in his hands and make your place of rest and soul perfect one in peace. May he stand by your family at all times, give them peace and good health. We pray your passing away shall never be a disaster for them. Timothy Rest well in the bosom of your Lord.Good night and have eternal peace.
Ogunlola.

On this solemn moment, I want the Adzua’s family to know that your beloved husband, father, brother and uncle, Tim, impacted many.
I knew him way back to our time at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria when we were growing up as young men. Tim consistently exhibited the qualities of love, peace integrity, transparency, care and friendship.
Tim’s skills as a good listener and advisor earned him trust with friends and those who knew him.
We cherish and love you Tim and we will greatly missed you!
I pray for God’s providence on your family. May He grant them the grace and fortitude to bear this great loss.

Uncle Sev was a strong and gentle man. Very calm and understated with no pretension, quietly and efficiently getting things done. A polyglot, well travelled and such a wry sense of humour. The twinkle in his eye is what would give away the jokes. I am so grateful for the way you warmly welcomed me into your home during my university holidays in Canada. I would enjoy the Tiv hospitality and sense of family and stability. I felt like one of your children and will always be grateful for the ways in which you included me. Though I have not been in Canada for many years, I would not be who or where I am today without your support. You will be greatly missed. Thankful for your legacy.

The pain of this separation is real, uncle Tim. You were your true self, with so much joy and laughter the last time we spoke not long before we got this news. We talked about how we couldn't wait to meet again. Little did we know that Heaven was preparing to welcome home a good man, a few days later. We miss you but we are in total surrender to the will of our God who is perfect in all His ways. We are grateful to God for knowing you and the time we spent together. Rest in the everlasting arms of your creator till we meet again on resurrection morning at the sound of the trumpet of our Lord.
Aunty Terngu and the children and family, we continue to pray that the God of all comfort will ever be so faithful to you at this time. He has not left you. He is with you. May you find solace and strength in Him especially in the coming days. We love you.

It was with great shock that we received the news of the passing on of our dear Tim. In fun we call him ‘Good morning’, the literary meaning of ‘Sev’, his second name.
We have known Tim since 1990 when we met in Vienna, Austria. We immediately connected with his family, going to each other’s homes and having fun together. Since 1999 when he was posted to Canada with his family, Tim always kept the connection to Vienna, visiting us and bringing all the friends together. He would invite us for lunch or dinner at restaurants to share not only meals but our usual fun and updates on family.
Tim was a calm, gentle, loving and humorous person. He was easy to get along with. We can’t believe we are writing about him in past tense.
We miss you Tim, Sev. We pray that your gentle soul Rests in Perfect Peace. We pray for your loving wife Terngu, who is like a sister to us, and for your children. May the good Lord give them the strength to bear the loss. Amen.
