Obituary of Mr. George Riley
George Riley passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years on Sunday, January 3, 2021 surrounded by his wife, daughter and other close family members. George was born on August 27, 1936 in Montserrat, West Indies, to Mr. Thomas Irish and Mrs. Barba Riley-Irish. Growing up in Montserrat, George attended St. George’s School along with his siblings Noel, Ellen, Mary (Una), Elvira (Bet), Clara, John, Edith, Errol (deceased), and Maudine (deceased). George spent his early years in Harris’ Village, but later migrated to England where he worked as a Postal Worker. While in England, George met and married Izora in June 1971 before later moving to Ontario, Canada. Their union produced one son, Everette, who sadly predeceased George in 2017.
While in Canada, George though retired worked part-time at a Law Office, where he was well known for his dapper dressing style and the recitation of poetic works from memory. His memory was very much intact until the time of his passing; and he loved sharing anecdotes of his childhood adventures and time in England. George was deeply dedicated to the Anglican faith and later the Seventh-day Adventist church and died believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour.
George had the most cheerful countenance with an ever present smile, along with a generous spirit and a kind genuine soul. George will be forever missed by his loving wife Izora, daughter Jennifer Talbot, grandchildren Grace-Ann, Mason, Morgen, Asmara, Jazmine, Xavier, daughter in law Petra and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson Canada Inc. and the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be greatly appreciated.
