OBITUARY

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Rev. Marc De Winton Dissanayake. With his wife and three daughters by his side, Pastor Marc was called to rest on December 11, 2020 at the age of 83.

Pastor Marc will be dearly missed by his loving wife Jennifer, his daughters Ayoma (Nalin de Silva), Manouri (David Giesen) and Anita (Rich Hintz) and his seven grandchildren, Simone, Hannah, Kira, Maximilian, Ella, Micah and Silas. He will also be missed by his stepchildren Deanne (Benjamin Schrek), Dawn Fernando and Felix Wardene (Francoise) and his step grandchildren, Elliott, Grace, Tatum Leigh and Rachel.

Pastor Marc is survived by his sisters Yva Seneviratne (Sena) Deidre Dissanayake and his brother Vincey Dissanayake, (Chandra) Sri Lanka. Marc will also be missed by his sis-in-law Loretta & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and wide circle of extended family, church family and friends.

Marc is predeceased by his parents, Randolph Conrad Onslow Dissanayake and Ellen Henrietta Sooriyabandara, and his brothers Elmo Dissanayake (Sri Lanka) and Ranjith Dissanayake (Canada).

Pastor Marc and his wife Pastor Jennifer dutifully and passionately served the Lord as the Senior Pastors of Upper Room Christian Ministries International (URCMI), which celebrated its 20th anniversary on November 11th, 2020.

We would like to extend our deep appreciation for the countless members of the URCMI church family, for the outpouring of love and support shown to Pastor Marc and our family over the past 3 years during his illness and especially since January when Pastor Marc began palliative care at home.  We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to Pastor Marc’s healthcare team, including the exceptional doctors at Scarborough Grace General Hospital especially Dr. Vincent Thien and Dr. Steven Reinglass, Marc’s palliative team, Mehdi, Armin and Sheila and his caring PSWs Lyn, Gloria and Keegan.

Our hearts hurt at the thought of never hearing his voice or seeing his smile ever again, but we are grateful that he is no longer in pain and has already received his eternal reward and rest.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Upper Room Christian Ministries International at 595 Middlefield Rd, Unit 4, Scarborough, ON M1V 3S2.
