Obituary of Mrs. Vangie Frengopoulos

Please share a memory of Mrs. Vangie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With broken hearts we share that on Sunday, December 6th, 2020, Vangie Frengopoulos née Staios passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, at the age of 62.

She is survived by her loving husband George, her two children Evan and Eva (Brady), grandchildren Charlotte and Henry, her brother Chris (Dorothy), her niece and nephew Gina and Greg, and was predeceased by her father and mother Gregory and Eugenia.

She will also be missed by her mother-in-law Ioanna (predeceased father-in-law Lefteris), along with her brother-in-law Dan and his children Cassandra, Courtney, and Cameron.

Born in Kledi, Florina, Greece on February 22, 1958, Vangie and her family immigrated to Canada in search for a better life. There they settled in Toronto and her and her brother had a fun filled childhood, going to school and playing with friends that lived on their street.

Vangie loved to read on her adored Kobo reader and would always speak about the latest novel she had read. On the night she passed, her and her husband enjoyed their time together by discussing stories and which they felt would be great movie adaptions.

A light in any room, Vangie always enjoyed planning and inviting family over for gatherings over the holidays. Food and desserts were always plentiful, as were the laughs that would come from family exchanging stories and enjoying time together. These are cherished memories for all members of the family.

With the difficulty that comes with a loved one’s death, comfort and peace may be taken by the knowledge that her pain has come to an end. She was surrounded by family at home, and the thought that she has now reunited with loved ones who have passed before can give one some solace during this painful time.

Due to the nature of the current situation, funeral services will be by invite only and for close family. They will take place at Ogden Funeral Home on Monday, December 14th at 1:00pm. There will be a livestream provided by the funeral home that begins at 12:55pm. The stream will also be available for 90 days for those who are not able to watch it live. For those who cannot attend and would like to watch the service, the link is as follows: https://www.oneroomstreaming.com/view/authorise.php?k=1607392032438920 Email: george.frengopoulos@rogers.com

Donations to St. John’s Orthodox Church would be appreciated in lieu of flowers. When it is more appropriate to do so, a celebration of life will be held in her honour.
