I remember all the thoughtful telephone calls she made to me. We had so much fun together chatting while she played her computer games and stilll never missed a beat. I oved that her advice always came with a threat and I will still follow them even in her passing because I still don't want the beating that will follow. She welcomed me into her home even when there was no space to put me up because that's who she was.
Now that she has physically gone, but spiritually remains I vow to be closer with you Cauline. My love and condolences to you, Andre and Adam.

Our heartfelt condolences to Cauline, Andre, Anthony, Adam, Josephine and family; Aunt Gwen will be truly missed by all. She was a true matriarch and ahead of her time as she was brilliant at everything she did. She was also an educator, she could logically explain anything and was gracious in sharing her wisdom with others. I will never forget her teachings and her gentle kind heart. When I laid sick in bed at the hospital, one of the first people that I opened my eyes to see was Aunt Gwen and Cauline; smiling back at me. Thank you, Aunt Gwen, for your kindness, friendliness, generosity, and the overall love that you showed to family and friends. May her soul rest in eternal peace. With love, from the Eastman family: George, Leila, Granville, Colin, Michael, Kiara and Wyles family Tricia, Craig & Grant.

My memories of Aunt Gwen are all of happy times. Including the times we spent on holiday in Orlando Florida sharing fun times in Disney Land; of her being the generous hostess to my family in her home in Canada; and her being a wonderful chef, preparing and serving the most delicious meals. And of course her love of a little flutter in the casinos.
In relation to Disney, despite her mobility difficulties, far greater than mine, I will never forget her absolute refusal to use the wheel chair which I rented to aid our movement along arduous trails and long walks. She was adamant that she would not be seen in any device which would suggest that she was less than physically able. So proud was she.
I also recall on one occasion, during that same holiday, pointing to someone cleaning the streets, and suggesting to my granddaughter that if she did not study she might end up doing a similar job. Aunt Gwen swiftly rebuked me that I should not belittle anyone's occupation - however humble. I learned from that comment that every occupation, however modest, is worthy of respect. I will never forget it that lesson.
As that last story indicates, Aunt Gwen was always generous and kind and had deep insights into life and living and always shared her experiences with all of us - from which we all benefitted.
She was a family person who loved dearly her family, of course her daughter, Cauline, her many nieces and nephews, including my then wife, Tessa, and of course her grandchildren - and many others whom she adopted - among whom I feel privileged to include myself. She lavished upon us all her own peculiar, special, brand of caring and sharing, with her culinary delights which she loved to prepare and which we all loved to enjoy and basking in her inner 'light' which shone from her at all times.
My family and I extend to the Aunt Gwen's family, particularly the inner circle, our hear-felt sympathies knowing that to live in the hears of loved ones is not to die.

My fondest memory of Aunt Gwennie is spending Christmas with her & the family in Toronto when I was 11yrs old. It was the Best Christmas Vacation ever, filled with lots of love, sharing & caring.
During my stay, I played lots of Aunt Gwennie’s CD’s & VHS tapes filled w/ music I’d never heard before. She saw that I really took a liking to it & generously gave me some music to take back home to NY. This was a VERY PIVOTAL moment in my life because I was introduced to new artists, which in turn helped me to connect w/ new people who share the same love of music.
I can honestly say that Aunt Gwennie played a major role in me meeting my Best Friend 20yrs ago!
