Obituary of Mrs. Maria Constantino

CONSTANTINO, Maria – Passed away Monday, October 19, 2020, at Providence Health Care home, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of predeceased Jose Constantino for 62 years. Much cherished mother of Angelo, Peter and John (Julie), and caring grandmother to Michael, Alexander and Samuel. Maria, neé Isabel Ribeiro Mateus, was born to parents, Isabel Rosa and Angelo Mateusin Foz do Arelho, Portugal, September 4th, 1930. She left Portugal, in 1958, moving with her husband and young son to a new life in Canada. She spent most of her years caring for and raising the family, and with part time and short-term jobs, providing for the family together with her husband who was working hard in carpentry. Before Jose’s passing, and her unfortunate progressing illness, she enjoyed her retirement years sojourning in Portugal with Jose and spending time with the family and young grandchildren. The family is grateful for the times spent at their Wasaga Beach cottage and house in Portugal. Extremely devout, Maria, like her husband, was never idle and developed a love for her gardening, flowers and the respect of nature, and needle crafts both in Canada and Portugal, in addition to time with her close friends and relations.
