I remember the first time I saw a Teddy Pendergrass album cover and I wouldn’t believe anyone trying to tell me it was Uncle Cyril. I remember the long tarnish brown car that I felt cool driving in. Or the nights Uncle would call us to come in from playing Spider-Man in the lane ways at the house on Exeter in the St Clair West Village. You will be missed, remembered and celebrated King!

Cyril Samuel was lovingly called “Seville” or just simply “Sam” by those of us who knew him very well. We came from the same hometown in St. Vincent. Even though Sam and I were related, his late mother Meatrice and my late mother were best of friends and that led to very strong family ties. After Sam left for Canada I never saw him again until I arrived in Canada many years later. When we met again we became very good friends and he became the God-father of my first Daughter. Sam and I shared many precious moments together especially in the 1980’s and early 1990’s . Sam was a fun loving guy and we spent time listening music we both liked and sharing memories of growing up in St. Vincent. He was like a big brother to WendelI and I and we shared more happy memories of visiting St.Vincent together. My condolences go out to his wife, his children and step-children and all of his siblings especially Noel, Valarie, Vincent and Judy and the entire family. Sleep on Sam, may you rest in eternal peace.
