Valerie Fiedler, a long-time, active member of RTOERO (Retired Teachers of Ontario) Toronto District 16, will be long-remembered by those who new her. Valerie served on the local executive from 1994 to 2004 as Membership and Social/Recreation Convenor.
Additionally, Valerie hosted a monthly Travelogue activity (1994/2003) for 50+ members who enjoyed multi-media presentations by fellow members sharing their world ventures in the company of fellow retirees.
A prolific photographer, Valerie recorded numerous member events and maintained a set of albums from which the organization was able to build up its archives.
Val maintained the Newsletter mailing list that made the hand-processed preparation for Canada Post a well-organized, efficient system for delivering over 1000 items. All this organization done by hand until computerization became a necessity for a growing membership passing 2000.
Even after Val’s departure from the executive, she maintained active participation in both Travelogues and Luncheons where she brought her bubbly personality to renew friendships built over her many years of voluntarism.
We thank Valerie for her dedicated service. She will be sadly missed.
