Dear Barnes Family,
Deepest sympathies to you on the loss of your beloved dad. He will be deeply missed but memories will stay with you forever. I was saddened to read of the passing but to live to 100 is incredible and shows the strength he had to live a long life.
My dad, Jim Emmerson, was also a Lancaster pilot during the War and became friends with Jack and Marguerite. I remember fondly many visits for dinners to my family home in Brampton and my parents were always pleased to have them over. They were always so kind. Jack and Marguerite came to a surprise 25th wedding anniversary of my parents and my dad was so thrilled. I also fondly remember a few visits to the cottage in Muskoka to enjoy the beautiful water and area and watching the boat come by. It was absolutely beautiful. To this day I can recollect a visit orchestrated by Jack to an abandoned resort nearby where the dining hall was still set and the beds were made and everything was still set up as it was when it was closed years before. Thanks to your dad he convinced me that it was haunted. My dad passed away in 1993(mom in 2002). I hope your memories will help with this difficult time. Stay well and take care of each other!
Sincerely
Julie Dunaiskis
