It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of a great man, Peter Downs. Peter passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24th at 3:00 pm, in his home, watching is favourite sport, soccer. He was surrounded by his loving family and family always came first with Peter. He was married to his loving wife, Patricia, for just under 60 wonderful years. He was a devoted father to his son Adrian (Nancy), daughter Lorna (Andy) and an amazing grandfather to his 4 loving grandchildren, Cayla, Madison, Hayley and Cameron. Peter came to Canada from his beloved home of Scotland in 1963 along with his wife, Patricia and 1 year old Adrian, seeking new adventures. His journey brought him to Port Alice, B.C. and then to Regina, Saskatchewan acquiring his daughter, Lorna, along the way. Deciding that better career opportunities were back east, he moved his family back to Toronto to join Honeywell Controls where he worked for 37 years until his retirement . While retired, he was fortunate to travel extensively with his wife and was able to see so many beautiful places in this world. He will always be remembered for his endless tales of his adventures and his love of family and soccer. In lieu of flowers, a Gofundme page has been set up to help the Glasgow Rangers Soccer Supporters Club that has been hit hard by the COVID 19 pandemic. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the club.
