Obituary of Mrs. Mary Watters

Please share a memory of Mrs. Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Chalmers Watters (nee Hay) 1937 – 2020. Mary passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2020 after a struggle with cancer. Beloved wife of Robert Kay Watters for 60 years. Loving mother of Robert (Norma), Ian, and Scott (Nadine). Loving grandmother of Caroline, Jonathan, Andrew, Kyle, and Michael. Dear sister of Ruth Evans (late Jack) and the late June Hay. Cherished aunt to Linda and Greg (Gail). She spoke of her family with great pride and love. Mary was a woman of many interests. An enthusiastic gardener, an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, and a loyal follower of Jeopardy and Coronation Street. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, cottaging at Sandy Lake, family camping trips, and summer parties for her late Mother (Peggy Hay). She loved finding thoughtful gifts for her family and sending handwritten cards. Mary enjoyed working at Crabtree & Evelyn and was an active long-term member of the Scottish Tartan Social Club. She also loved Christmas … and Elvis, but most importantly family. A private service will be held. Donations in memory of Mary can be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society. As the family gathered on the night of Mary’s passing, an old Post-It note was discovered attached to the refrigerator in her handwriting that said, “Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened”. These words exemplify how Mary lived her life. We love you and we’ll miss you.
