Obituary of Mr. Aubrey Ellis Sr.

On Sunday May 3, 2020 at Sunnybrook Hospital, Aubrey, in his 88th year, passed away from this life peacefully. Aubrey was the much-loved father of Aubrey Jr and Deborah & father-in-law of Selwyn. Beloved grandfather of Tishawna, Sharrisa, Aubrey III, Jesse and Kira. Loving brother of Bob and Yvonne - pre-deceased by siblings Victor, Delores, Roy, Junior, Thelma and late brother-in-law, Gerald. He will be deeply missed by his loving nephews and nieces. Born in Toronto, Aubrey graduated from Central Technical High School and started his long career working in the bookbindery industry. He quickly learned the many skills of the trade which he did until his retirement. For 2-3 years in his early workdays, Aubrey worked with Wayne Distributors in handbill trade but soon returned to his true work love in bindery’s. Aubrey was a card-carrying journeyman and a full-fledged union member all of his working career. Those who knew Aubrey, know he was a true storyteller, recalling many a tale which often grew in length and detail over the years. No one could escape a smile from Aubrey’s enormous sense of humour and quick wit – he could always get a room laughing. A skilled and avid golfer and bowler, he played on numerous leagues and teams over the years. His prized memory was his trip to his father’s homeland of Barbados which he travelled with his beloved brother Roy. A special thanks for the great care he received at Sunnybrook Hospital and the Humber River Reactivation Centre. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
