Hamilton: Dorothy, Eulalee
On Wednesday, February 19, 2020, Dorothy Hamilton (nee Wright) passed away peacefully at the age of 91.
Dorothy was born on September 17 in St. Andrew, Jamaica and immigrated to Canada in 1959.
Her spirit is carried on by her loving children Michael Hamilton and Raquel Lasenby (Mike) and four granddaughters, Shanel, Malique, Ella and Addison.
We were blessed to have Dorothy with us for these 91 years. From her, we received the priceless gift of her unconditional love, learned what it meant to be selfless and watched her demonstrate the meaning of hard work.
Good natured and patient to a fault, she was always singing or humming a tune. She literally always had a song in her heart and brought happiness to the many people who were fortunate enough to hear her beautiful voice.
Dorothy loved people, and the people she loved the most were her children and granddaughters. She spent countless hours with each child, teaching them how to read and write and even more hours playing games and horsing around. In her eighties, Dorothy could be found chasing the girls around the house, delighting in hearing their squeals and giggles.
A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, forever in our hearts.
Dorothy is predeceased by her father, Joshlin, her mother, Martha and her brother Will. She is survived by her sister Kathy.
Visitation is at Ogden Funeral Home, 4164 Sheppard Ave. E., Toronto, on Thursday, February 27 from 5-9 pm. Funeral service in the Ogden Chapel on Friday, February 28 at 11 am.
In Dorothy’s memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
