Obituary of Mr. Yu Keng Teng 鄧裕耕先生
Please share a memory of Mr. Yu Keng Teng to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Yu Keng Teng (“Teng”) was born on August 16, 1945, in Calcutta, India, the youngest of seven sons of Chun Fen and Liao Shih Teng. He grew up in a poor family and had very little formal education, but was a gifted handyman whose skills were entirely self-taught. He immigrated to Toronto in 1973, and eventually settled with his family in Mississauga. He worked at DeHavilland Aircraft (later Bombardier Aerospace) in Downsview for 31 years until he retired in 2010. He spent his retirement traveling often to China and Connecticut; regularly exceeding the daily 10,000-step recommendation on his much-loved FitBit; and spending time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. His affable nature was readily apparent, even to strangers. He will be remembered most for his endless energy, passion, enthusiasm, and willingness to help others. Even during his final months, when his body was severely weakened by chemotherapy, he remained on-the-go as much as he could. We honour him now as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and neighbour. Teng is survived by his wife Hsiang Yun (Michelle), his daughter Shirley, son-in-law Tom, son Patrick, daughter-in-law Larissa, and grandchildren Marcus, Abby, Annabelle, and Charlotte.
