Cheryl and Tracey,
I was thinking of your dad because it’s his birthday next Sunday.
I don’t know what prompted me to check the obituaries.
My heart skipped a beat when I found this notice.
I adored your dad. Our friendship began while he was librarian at St. Xavier. I was a parent/volunteer.
I consoled him when his mom, Miss Isis, and his beloved Barbara died and recall all the stories he shared of you, his loving daughters, and 2 grandchildren.
Although I moved from Markham, I tried to stay in touch up until he moved into Shepard Lodge.
Please know that I’m covering you all in prayer and hope you have found peace in the beautiful memories you share and the knowledge that he has been lifted to eternal glory.
With love,
Janet Montesano and family.

DT, was a brilliant Geography teacher at Munro College in Jamaica where he brought the subject to life with his colourful descriptions and animated style of teaching. In particular, I recall his explaining how the wild Salmon in Canada flew up the river to the headwaters to spawn and his descriptions and pictures of Kitimat as a power station and Aluminium smelting center in Canada were unforgettable. May his soul rest in peace and eternal light shine upon him.

David was a childhood friend of my mother, Valda (Blake) Chambers. He welcomed my family with open arms and words of wisdom and encouragement, when we migrated to Toronto from Jamaica in the mid 2000s, to the extent that I consider David and his girls family.
He and my mom shared many memories when she visited, one of which was they there the first government scholarship winners from their “little Morant Bay and surrounding communities” that took them beyond “3rd year”.
His last words to me when I visited him a little before his passing were, “Pop by anytime”, his typical saying at the end of a visit and it made me smile.
He is a truly special soul who will always be fondly remembered by my family.
Sleep in peace David.

David was a pioneer and trailblazer. 40 years ago he brought the first coverage of his beloved cricket to CBC Radio. Way back in 1980 he started telephoning me at dawn on the Metro Morning show to pass on overnight cricket scores from around the world. He was clearly very proud of his Jamaican-led West Indies team as they dominated the sport for so many years.
He was a passionate and devoted man. We became close friends and enjoyed many a meal together at the Real Jerk.
Very much missed by this old friend, Joe Cote
