Obituary of Mr. Frank Davis

Frank Audrick Davis

Passed away peacefully on Saturday August 17, 2019 at Providence Healthcare in Toronto.  He was born in St. Thomas, Barbados on January 21, 1935.  

Frank was son of the late Violet Smith (nee Davis) and step-son of the late Frederick Smith Sr.  He was predeceased by his siblings: Wilma; Luther; Frederick Jr., Dennis & Grethel. 

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Davis (nee Jordan).   Much-loved father of Valerie Davis.  Cherished grandfather of Joshua Shaw.  Siblings Emgar Davis, Greta Seifert, and Delisle Smith.  Known as Uncle Frank to his many nieces and nephews:  Vivian, Pamela, the late Patricia, Andrea, Jenny, Roger and Donna Davis; Monette Smith & Jewelle Smith- Johnson; the late Kevin Davis, Adrian Davis and Rudy Tull; Aaron Smith, Lisa Fields, Philippa Smith, Carlo Tull and Monique Tull; Debbie and Dwayne Jones; Alicia, Antoinette, and Jason Seifert; Bayo and Delisha Smith. 

Brother in law of Vernon Jordan, Daphne Bryan, Edwina Smith, Sheila Smith and Brenda Jones- Smith.

After immigrating to Canada in 1967, Frank worked at Phillips Electrical for a number of years.  In 1972, after numerous attempts, Frank gained employment at TTC as a train repairman (99) for 30 years until his retirement in 2002. 

Frank enjoyed the friendship of many.  He loved sports, for example, hockey, baseball and most importantly CRICKET.  He was a former player and proud member of the Malvern Cricket Club.  He loved to sing and play piano.  Many summer days you could find Frank puttering in the garden.  But in his later years, he thoroughly enjoyed the role of being a doting grandfather to Joshua.

Visitation will be held at Ogden Funeral Home (Address: 4164 Sheppard Ave E, Scarborough ON – west of Midland Avenue.) on Monday August 26^th from 4-8pm.  Funeral service will take place at Ogden on Tuesday August 27^th at 10:30 a.m.  A visitation prior to the service will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Scarborough Grace Hospital 3D ward.  Special thanks to Providence Health, palliative care staff for their loving care of Frank.   Most importantly, the family is grateful for the care given to Frank by his family doctor Dr. Anil Khitani.  Many times, Frank would awake to find Dr. Khitani at his bedside, keeping Frank company which was very much appreciated.
