I believe that I can with absolute certainty say that Mr. David Latchana spent his entire adult life as a dedicated teacher mostly at J.B.Cropper Primary school, Albion Front and elsewhere. He was known for his teaching skills and expertise as the Common Entrance Teacher! Many parents wanted their child/children to be under his tutelage. Late last year and thanks to his son Martin, a group of us paid him a visit. He was so happy when he saw us and remembered each one. He laughed as we spoke of stories/events in our class at Cropper. He told us how proud he was of each one of us and then wished us well as we kissed him and said Good Bye. Sadly it was the last Good Bye. Teacher David was a special kind of teacher. Yes, he was a disciplinarian who only wanted the best outcomes for his pupils and to that end he gave his best. Thank you Sir for your long and dedicated service to education in Guyana but more specifically to the young children of Albion and the surrounding communities. That's a lot of 'Thank you Sir' for you! On behalf of the Ackloo family, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to our Aunt, Teacher Violet, all of his children and the extended family. Again, thank you Sir for being that shining example in your life time and May your Soul Rest in Eternal Peace!
