Obituary of Mrs. Jean "Kelly" Marincak
On Tuesday, July 30th, 2019, Jean “Kelly” Marincak passed away in palliative care at Scarborough General Hospital. Before Kelly was a resident at Bendale Acres Nursing Home, she lived with her loving husband, Paul J. Marincak, in their family home in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada for 42 years.
Kelly was born in 1931 to Helen and Andrew Kelly in their family home in Glasgow, Scotland. She immigrated to Canada in 1956 and never looked back.
Kelly LOVED to go shopping, especially for good bargains. Sally Ann, Goodwill and Value Village were among her favourite places. Garage sales were a must and she would plan out her route well in advance, looking over the Scarborough Mirror and selecting only the “biggies.”
Kelly and Paul really enjoyed travelling and they went on many vacations with Bernie and Eva. Kelly enjoyed making her own curtains, painting, playing cards and was a big Classic Hollywood Movie buff. She was also an avid reader of biographies and true crime stories. She always had a book on the go, with a few waiting in the wings to be read.
Kelly always greeted everyone with a big smile. She loved a good laugh, was a great storyteller, singer, dancer, and had a wicked sense of humour. She got along well with everyone who met her.
Kelly is survived by her loving husband, Paul J. Marincak, of 58 years; her beloved sons, Paul R. Marincak Jr., Steve Marincak, and favourite daughter, Sue Marincak; along with her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her mother, Helen McIntosh; father, Andrew Kelly; and brother, William.
Please join us for a celebration of her life at Ogden Funeral Home on Thursday, August 8th, 2019 at 1pm. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Thornhill. Details of the reception after the interment will be provided at the service.
