Obituary of Mr. Richard Chong

Richard Herbert Chong, of Scarborough Ontario, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 17, 2019 at age 77.

Born in Sudbury, Ontario he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret (nee Wong) Chong.

Richard was a successful restaurant proprietor in Lindsay, Ontario for over 10 years. He also worked as a stock broker in Toronto at Midland Doherty on Bay Street prior to moving to Lindsay.

He had an appetite for laughter, travel and good food shared at family gatherings.  Richard had a passion for adventure in Cuba frequenting the country often bringing supplies for over 20 years.

In his final year, he treasured his time at home with his wife and family, trips to the library, coffee at McDonald’s and binge-watching murder mysteries on Netflix.

Richard will be fondly remembered for his quiet generosity, kindness, great sense of humour and big smile, especially when with his grandchildren.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 54 years Anna, daughter Colleen (Chris) sons Peter (Mai) and Jason, grandchildren Thomas, Ryan, Nokey and Joe, great grandchildren Angelina and Jax, his siblings Edmund, Donald, Stanley,  Lillian,  Jack and Jeanne.  He is predeceased by his sister Elsie and brother Gilbert.

Family and friends are welcome to join us at both the visitation and funeral at Ogden Funeral Homes (4164 Sheppard Ave E)

Visitation: Thursday March 21st from 5pm-9pm

Funeral Service: Friday March 22nd at 10:30am

All guests are invited to attend lunch following the funeral service at Dragon Pearl Restaurant located at 865 York Mills Rd. unit #2
