Obituary of Mr. Salvatore Porzio
Salvatore Porzio passed away peacefully on Tuesday November 20, 2018, with his beloved family at his side, at the age of 90. He is survived by his loved and cherished wife of 65 years, Pasqualina (nee Tiralongo). Beloved father of John and his wife Angela and Josie and her husband Enzo Greco. Most loved grandfather of Jessica (Marc Bombini), Daniel (Heather), Justin, Angelo, Amanda and Samantha and great-grandfather of Ella, Julianna, Christian, Patrick and Nicholas. Salvatore was 1 of 7 children born to Giovanni and Giuseppina Porzio of Pachino, Italy. He is survived by sister Maria Dugo and predeceased by Vincenzo, Luigi, Carmelina Rosa, Corrado and Giovanni. Salvatore (affectionately known as Turiddù) worked hard throughout his life to make a better world for his wife and family, whom he loved so much. For many years he worked at Canada Cartage as a dedicated employee. He was an usher at St. Lawrence the Martyr Church for over 45 years. He is remembered by his family and friends as an avid gardener, proud of his many accomplishments growing and nurturing plants, flowers and vegetables, he was also a wood worker, crafting many items found around his home, he was known for his great story telling, recanting his adventures he had in South America and around the world when he was young, stories he loved to tell to both his family and many friends; who remember him from his visits to the Mediterranean Social Club. Salvatore was well liked and loved by all, a keen sense of humour and a good story to share. Pasqualina and Salvatore recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, he then asked her to marry him again….of course she would! Forever together they will be.
