Obituary of Mr. Apostolos Kolokithas
Passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2018 in his 91st year. He immigrated from Sparti, Greece in 1956. Like every other immigrant, he had no money, all his possessions fit in one suitcase, had no knowledge of the language, and in his case no one had sponsored him. All alone he somehow found fellow Greeks who gave him work and a place to sleep. Two years later he brought over his wife and daughter. After working in restaurants for many years he built his own business. He along with his wife were the owners of Deer Park Shoe Repair for 20 years. After retiring in 1990 they spent their summers in Greece reconnecting with family and old friends. He leaves behind his wife of 63 years Evangelia, his daughter Dimitra, son-in-law George Tzaneteas and his absolute pride and joy, his grandsons, Elliott and Paul.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. V Kukreti, nurses and staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, and Dr. Christopher Li at St. Michael's Hospital for the many years of care.
In lieu of flowers, donations made in Apostolos' memory to the Princess Margaret Hospital or St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated.
