Claudette Louvain Gladys Patterson (nee Dix)

1934- 2018

 

Passed away peacefully at Scarborough Rouge Valley Hospital in the palliative care unit on March 25, 2018 in her 84th year.

 

Beloved wife of David, loving mother of David (Nuala), Deborah, Jeffrey (Kathleen) and Gregory (Virginie).

 

She will be sadly missed by her grand-children, Siobhan, Michael, Carly, Sean, Julia, Caitlin, Evan, Rachel, Lauren and great-grandchildren, Aoife and Aiden.

 

Dear sister to Shirley, Geraldine and the late Kenneth.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ogden Funeral Home (4164 Sheppard Avenue East Agincourt) on Saturday March 31st. Visitation at 2 pm.

 

Memorial Service at 3 pm.

 

The family would like to thank the nursing staff on the fifth floor at the Scarborough Rouge Valley Hospital and Dr. Naresh Mohan for his exceptional care and compassion.

 

Claudette Louvain Gladys Dix was born in Toronto on July 14, 1934. She attended Indian Road and Pauline elementary schools and Western Technical and Commercial High School. Claudette married David Chambers Patterson in 1953 after meeting him at the Young Peoples in Parkdale Presbyterian Church.

 

After graduating from WTC she worked as a legal secretary for Grey Hamilton QC until 1954.

 

Claudette was a consummate homemaker, expressing her creative talents in sewing, knitting, tailoring, macramé and rug making (rya). She filled our home with drapery, beddings, and wall hangings.

 

Claudette volunteered in the tuck shop and was Treasurer at Bendale Acres Home for the Aged on Lawrence Avenue East for 31 years. She also committed her time to canvassing as Area Chairman for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and for many years volunteered at Blood Donor clinics.

 

She enjoyed curling at the Tam O'Shanter and Avon Lea curling clubs, and travelled to all corners of the world, enjoying relaxing vacations aboard the cruise ships.

 

For those who wish, In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be greatly appreciated.

 

Claudette will be missed dearly by her loving family.
