On behalf of the Thijs Family, our deepest condolences to the Reid family.
David was a very close friend of our family for decades and I had the privilege of meeting up with David again just about nine months ago, it was so wonderful to connect with him again.
David was also a mentor and coach to my brother John who also raced motorcycles back in Guyana.
My dad still remembers the days at GMRC helping to tune both David's and Johnny Terryl's motorcycles. We have lots of great pictures with David receiving the trophies he had won for motor cycle racing.
In life David and Johnny would jostle each other for the finish line in motorcycle racing, and mostly Johnny would make the finish line before David. Ironically, in death, just the same, with Johnny just 'pipping' David to the finish line of life by two weeks. As most of us know Johnny died just a couple of weeks ago.
Rest in peace David... You were a genuine and wonderful person, and will certainly be missed.

The rest of the boys hung out almost every afternoon he would pick me up at home and we limed. we raced Yamahas together and David and I drove Big Burtha in the Esso 500 m rally in Barbados taking the novice prize. I truly loved David McGregor Reid he was the nicest person I knew. See you soon my friend Carl D. Goveia # 7.

You had the ability to always make me and others laugh, regardless of circumstance and now your work is done.
