We have lost a great matriarch, committed lodge sister, friend to many, devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and follower of Jesus, Mary's boy-child, which was her favorite Christmas hymn.
Doris lived with deep sense of faith and feistiness. She would often respond after a greeting, "I am still here fighting for my rights". She loved God, life, family and friends. Over the years, she threw many dinner parties, especially on her birthdays, August 1st, where her home would be open to all for laughter, food and fellowship. She was an excellent cook, baker and host. She was a queen of hospitality.
She knew Jesus as her good shepherd who was leading her to still waters and rest during a very long illness. May her soul rest in eternal peace. May all who loved and cared for her find comfort in knowing she has entered God's rest, freed from all her pain and suffering to be united with her beloved husband and all the saints who have gone before.
Rest in peace beloved Doris.
